Event Protest for Renee Good 1/9/26

small clip, I know, but there was a great showing tonight. Tons of people of all ages, races, genders, backgrounds, all fighting for the same cause. It was empowering.

We are here. We the People. And we won’t stand down.

Amazing to see the same motherfuckers in these replies spouting the same bullshit from the same unreliable sources.

At least with other subreddits there’s an excuse from numbers, this one just shows how blindly some of y’all follow Trump.

The same officer that shot Good was involved in a similar incident months ago, where he held on to a moving car fleeing a traffic stop. This time, he decided to stand in front of a car and block it from leaving. That’s explicitly against DHS guidelines, meaning he should have never been in danger in the first place.

He’s a trigger happy dumbass, and he won’t be the only one. Welcome to the new America. Let’s hope the pendulum swings hard.

All of these threads are being brigaded by bots/trolls who have never posted in r/rochester before. They should be banned but the mods would rather lock threads and shut down discussion than do actual moderation.

Those MAGAts are working hard to ensure even voting won't remove them from power. Remember, they tried FORCIBLY staying into power 5 years ago. Many of those republicans were complacent. A few did the right thing.

This is FAR from over.

Reminder. EVERYTHING he did was against federal rules of engagement: https://www.justice.gov/jm/1-16000-department-justice-policy-use-force

Not supposed to stand in front of cars.

Not supposed to fire at cars.

Supposed to move out of the way.

Only allowed to consider the vehicle a threat if the driver verbally threatens them or uses a weapon other than the vehicle.

Not allowed to fire at fleeing suspects.

Stop ignoring that they aren’t following ANY rules.

Edit: Copied from one of my other comments.

It’s called “manufactured jeopardy” and it’s literally one of the only things that removes police’s qualified immunity. We are talking about decades of court precedent. He wasnt supposed to walk in front of the car.

Until yesterday everyone from courts to the fraternal order of police say what he did was wrong. Now Republicans are telling you what they feel is fact. What they feel tomorrow will be different, and the day after that, and the day after that. Because they are lying to you.

The party is telling you not to believe your eyes and you are eating it up. You didn’t need to hate Jews to be a Nazi. You don’t need to hate immigrants to be an American fascist. You just need to repeat their lies.

17

u/Muppetz3 Jan 09 '26

I really wish people would read the DOJs OWN standards and rules. He clearly was able to move and avoid serious harm. Then no one even checked for a pulse, whish is also against their rules. We need to copy that DOJ page before they change it or take it down.

7

u/floodspectre 19th Ward Jan 09 '26

Here's the thing though: they don't give a shit about rules. If they did we wouldn't be where we are as a country today.

63

u/Job_Moist Jan 09 '26

Good to see. Too sick from the flu to make it myself. Thanks for showing up. I hope her family is somewhat comforted by the show of support.

16

u/Joesh7 Jan 09 '26

How do you get notified to join these protests? I’m interested but I never hear about them until they are happening?

16

u/the-red-ditto Jan 09 '26

There was a post on this subreddit yesterday about it, that’s how I heard. There may be some group or mailing list you could join, but I don’t know about it

16

u/Muppetz3 Jan 09 '26

Thats one hell of a turnout

11

u/the-red-ditto Jan 09 '26

Yeah, for one days notice I was really excited to see the amount of people that went out of their way to be there. It was awesome.

7

u/Opposite_Banana_3785 Jan 09 '26

I was there in spirit!!! I hope there will be more planned.

-25

u/river343 Jan 09 '26

I’m glad to see a peaceful protest. I hope people don’t escalate and get emboldened to interfere with law enforcement. Protest to get laws changed with politicians. It’s getting serious out there and I think some people are ignorant to what real violence looks like. Stay safe out there. And before I get downvoted, I just want peace.

22

u/WeBeShoopin Jan 09 '26

Violence begets violence, ICE is very violent and also showing that the law, your rights, don't mean anything to them. They then turn around and say that, no, leftists are the violent ones, and people believe them, despite the evidence of the contrary being right in front of them.

"Law Enforcement" isn't what ICE is doing. They're performing domestic terrorism. They're murdering Americans in cold blood, we can only imagine what's happening behind closed doors to the people they steal from communities.

-12

u/river343 Jan 09 '26

I’m just saying don’t be surprised when you try to get in the way there might be consequences. This isn’t a game and I realize people are mad, but be careful. There are a lot of people getting involved that have never been punched in the face.

11

u/WeBeShoopin Jan 09 '26

Absolutely, there will be consequences if anyone interacts with these agencies in a way they deem negative. The point is there are already consequences for doing nothing, first they came and all that. We are either proactive in our responses or reactive. If we continue to act reactively, we are playing into what they want. Which is violence or compliance. If they're going to make The People choose between the two, I can only hope we choose correctly.

Ideally, we can proactively prevent the violence from happening, which involves showing up against ICE, peacefully protesting their presence, preventing them from taking anyone without accountability. If they are to arrest people, they need to do it with transparency and due process.

General strike is needed, economic non compliance is needed. Walk outs are needed, slow downs are needed.

Our representatives need to fuckin represent. Primary out Schumer, Tenney, Morrelle, the lot of the corrupt "Democrats."

-19

u/river343 Jan 09 '26

The only problem is the people showing up to “stop ICE” aren’t being peaceful. When they react with violence back, people seem to be surprised. Sure stand on the sidewalk with signs, yell, scream whatever, but be careful to not go further. Everyone has a plan until they are punched in the face.

7

u/[deleted] Jan 09 '26

What are you even talking about? Where in Rochester had that happened

-7

u/river343 Jan 09 '26

It was not happened, but it will if people are stupid.

-17

u/dakware Jan 09 '26

He was in no danger when she was in reverse- it was when they started ordering her to stop and exit (and he hadn’t made it all the way around yet) that she decided to ignore them and try to flee. Regardless of her perceived demeanor, the fact remains she chose to accelerate with an officer in front of her. As for his comments, appropriate or not, I fully understand the reaction. I’d be mad too if somebody was harassing and impeding my work, then decided to accelerate their vehicle with me in front of it. The idea that I’m defending ‘an agent murdering a civilian’ is wild, divisive, and in bad taste. I don’t have to like the outcome to understand that actions have consequences and believe that it was legally justified.

-187

u/dakware Jan 09 '26

Maybe don’t impede and harass federal agents, ignore orders, then attempt to flee the scene when they finally are sick of your nonsense- and in the process strike an agent?

Terrible, awful tragedy, and I feel bad for everyone in her life that is dealing with her loss, but literally wtf are we protesting???

77

u/ProperCash4497 Jan 09 '26

Honestly, the fact that masked, clearly untrained and hostile goons are running around the suburbs disappearing and killing people all over the country should be a problem to all Americans. The victim’s intentions are irrelevant.

That wasn’t a part. So either you’re illiterate, or you just know you’re wrong. I don’t care which.

47

u/vineyardmike Jan 09 '26

There are several videos from different angles of what happened. That person is far enough away to have his arms straight when he is shooting at the woman in the suv.

47

u/dangercluck Jan 09 '26

Idk what video shows her hitting the agent. She was waving on the trucks and then turned her wheel to get out of the way. The protest is against ICE agents conducting unlawful abductions and now killings of American citizens. It’s pretty simple. They do not have the right to kill whoever they want.

11

u/start_select Jan 09 '26

It doesnt even matter. He moved out of the way. That PROVES he broke every single rule: https://www.justice.gov/jm/1-16000-department-justice-policy-use-force

The response is that literally all of that is bullshit, that none of it would be a justification for murder by a government agent anyway, and that justifying murder by a government agent is fucking psychopathic.

If your goal is to justify murder by a government agent, explain to me a better time to call somebody a bootlicker?

The leading expert already said the ice agent was wrong. How about you shut your mouth and listen to experts, piggy

7

u/[deleted] Jan 09 '26

Oh boy are you in for a surprise when you realize that’s not what happened and the leading expert already stated the agent was NOT in danger and broke protocol.

But go on let’s hear what you think

-6

u/dakware Jan 09 '26

Objectively, she was reversing when he came around the front of the vehicle. She was ordered to stop and exit. She attempted to flee (I don’t believe she was intentionally trying to hit him) he was struck, and he shot at least once directly through the windshield, and I think three times in total.

I think it was bad decisions on both sides that resulted in a terrible tragedy. No ‘rules were broken’ though, and the reasonableness must be judged from the involved persons perspective, not different angles and a trumped-up narrative.

9

u/the-red-ditto Jan 09 '26

She was being ordered to get out of the car and also to move her car at the same time, all while an ice agent was trying to forcibly pry her door open. All because she was “obstructing the road”, after literally waving the ice trucks along and asking them to pass her.

0

u/dakware Jan 09 '26

The only thing you can hear in the video is them ordering her out of the car. And actually, the one who shot her was recording on a phone, seemingly because somebody was following him around- that looks to be why he was moving around the vehicle how he did.

All of this happening too, and no telling what all happened leading up to this either.

8

u/[deleted] Jan 09 '26

Actually the the expert on these incidents who curates a database of 600 worldwide cases - disagrees. She didn’t attempt flee btw

9

You don’t know what you are talking about.

-3

u/dakware Jan 09 '26

He circled in front of the vehicle while it was reversing and presumably had no reason to believe she would flee (no rule broken)

Arguably ‘moving out of the path’ would not have been objectively reasonable considering he was close enough to be hit and in front of it when he discharged (no rule broken)

People can argue all day on whether or not they agree. Could he have done something different, sure. It was bad decisions on both sides that resulted in a terrible tragedy. Was it murder though, no.

1

u/dakware Jan 09 '26

I haven’t looked at one piece of commentary on the events- because I don’t care what peoples opinions are on it- only the videos themselves from different angles, and the DOJ guidebook.

I’m reading and understanding these cases, and the key difference here, which I believe is the point you’re trying to make, is that an officer can’t manufacture the circumstances to justify using deadly force. Well, he didn’t. Now, if he was 20 feet away and walked in the path of the vehicle of course thats a different scenario entirely. He shouldn’t have been that close probably, but also she was reversing when he circled the front, and being told to stop and exit by the other.

The NY Times video walking people through the one angle telling people what to believe- those are the lies. Play the video, stfu, and let people see it for themselves and make their own conclusions.

10

u/start_select Jan 09 '26 edited Jan 09 '26

There is only a single video angle where it appears he is in the path of the car when he pulls his gun. He can see her turning the wheel. His feet are to the left of the vehicle. He made contact because he pulled a gun and leaned forward.

“He shouldn’t have been that close” is where you should have ended it. If he is too close, he manufactured the threat.

1

u/dakware Jan 09 '26

Him being too close ≠ he manufactured the threat

Ive seen at least 4 separate angles, and the only one they’re pushing is the one up close with an obstructed view. All the other ones they say ‘oh wellllll, it’s grainy, and far awayyyy’ etc, and go back to their narrative.

4

u/start_select Jan 09 '26 edited Jan 09 '26

No it literally does. You have it backwards. If he was 20ft back and she actually came at him, he would be justified.

If he was close enough to come into contact as she was just starting to roll forward at 5mph then he was not where he was supposed to be.

If he was that close he could also see her spinning a wheel all the way to the right. Not aiming for him.

He turned her escape into an attack. Fleeing is not justification for shooting. You aren’t allowed to consider the vehicle as a weapon if you are placing yourself in its path.

1

u/dakware Jan 09 '26

I dont have anything backwards- if he was 20 feet away and she was fleeing then he moved into her path (not, her purposely aiming for him), then he wouldn’t be justified because that would have been manufactured.

Pretty sure if you’re in the process of being hit by a vehicle, you’re not paying attention to somebody turning a wheel necessarily- and its a pretty big leap to assume in that split second he could discern that anyway.

She turned her detainment/arrest into an escape.

7

u/start_select Jan 09 '26

EVERY law enforcement manual tells officers to approach a vehicle from the rear b-pillar, because otherwise they are placing themselves in danger if the car moves.

They are in the same danger whether the car moves because of a driver hitting the gas or forgetting to put on the parking brake.

They have placed themselves in that danger. He was supposed to be on the passenger side b pillar where he was when the videos started. He walked up in front of the car to take a video.

He caused the dangerous situation. He was staring at her, aiming at her, watching her spin the wheel the entire way to the right BEFORE he even fired.

You just like the fact that they shot someone. He had zero justification and he put himself in jeopardy.

10

u/start_select Jan 09 '26

He was close enough to move out of the way. He was too busy staring at his phone and then pulling a gun to move.

ICE reported no injuries. The only reason the vehicle made any contact with him is that he lunged forward.

There have been dozens of cases in the last few years where border patrol and ICE have been chastised for doing exactly this. Standing in front of vehicles, lunging at them, and using it as an excuse to fire.

That’s why they added the statement that moving out of the way is the reasonable choice.

This wasn’t an accident, ICE does this as a tactic exactly the same as police saying “stop resisting” before they even touch you. On tape is sounds like you are the perp when they are causing an escalation.

This is literally an accurate and honest take. Facts really make people angry though.

26

u/LuxSerafina Jan 09 '26

-20

u/EatGreatEvnLate Jan 09 '26

I haven't seen that one. That's even more damning than the one I saw. Clearly trying to block officers then dangerously trying to escape when they approach. Still not worth dying over, for sure, but everything being said is true. Play stupid games win stupid prizes they say.

-55

u/dakware Jan 09 '26

Right, I’m literally just asking though- like genuinely what is there to protest exactly?

A terrible and avoidable tragedy occurred based on a series of decisions that were made… We gonna protest for that guy killed a little while ago here? No? Why not? Oh yeah, he shot three officers after trying to break into his exes place.

He came around the front of the vehicle while she was reversing, she was ordered by another to get out, she put it in drive attempting to flee and ran into the agent who was already drawn, and he fired. He had just experienced another incident involving a vehicle where he was injured last summer. These are the facts. 🤷🏻‍♂️

15

u/emmyembly Jan 09 '26

Literally none of these facts justify killing her. DHS policy says:

"Deadly force shall not be used solely to prevent the escape of a fleeing subject," the memo says. The guidance allows deadly force when: A) The person in the vehicle is "using or imminently threatening deadly force by means OTHER THAN the vehicle"; or B) The vehicle is being driven in a way that's an immediate threat and NO OTHER objectively reasonable defensive option exists."

There were some fairly obvious objectively reasonable ways he could have saved himself without killing her, like just jumping out of the way. Deadly force is the option you use only when all your other options are exhausted. I understand that in the moment people may not realize all their options and make the wrong choice but they are still responsible for making that wrong choice and should be held accountable. If they don’t want to accept the risk that in the line of duty they may unjustly murder someone and be punished for it they shouldn’t accept the job.

Also, he could have prevented his previous injury by simply letting go of the car. If anything it’s further evidence that this man has poor judgement and continues to put himself in dangerous situations.

23

u/SomethingAboutTrout Pittsford Jan 09 '26

She didn’t hit him. He was not hit by her vehicle. He was an arm’s length away as she drove by.

People are protesting that a government agents murdered a civilian in broad daylight. The crimes you’re alleging she committed are not punishable by death. And even if they were, COPS DON’T EXECUTE GUILTY PEOPLE.

To deal with your shitty whataboutism: Am i sad that three RPD officers were shot? Yes. I don’t condone gun violence. I also don’t protest it every time it happens because I’d be exhausted from protesting every god damn day of the year.

2

u/dakware Jan 09 '26

She 100000% hit him. Now, I will say, it was clearly not intentional… Secondly, was it hard, no- BUT- he was hit. If you can’t see that, you’re blind, or purposely lying.

11

u/SomethingAboutTrout Pittsford Jan 09 '26

Video evidence says no, Ross was not hit.

His feet and legs were clear of the SUV. When he fires his gun, his legs are to the left of the SUV, and the tires were pointed away from him.

You're doing a lot of work to justify a government agent murdering a person. Why is that?

4

u/dakware Jan 09 '26

No, all of the video evidence proves he was hit- the commentary on the video tries to gaslight people into believing the explanation theyre giving.

Furthermore, your rhetoric is unproductive, harmful, and frankly just blatantly divisive. Painting me as someone ‘justifying murder’. No, I have eyes, and understand nuance.

She accelerated toward him- he drew and fired as was being hit. The fact that the wheels were turned doesn’t negate the fact the sh accelerated and hit him, it only shows that she was attempting to flee not run him down. In that half a second when a vehicle was driving toward him, I’m sure he’s not thinking “oh shes about to turn,” he’s thinking “She’s driving her car into me”

Bullet hole through the windshield literally proves he was in front of vehicle when he started firing, and other camera angles show him getting hit and knocked back. Convenient that the one circulating is blocked in part by the agent who was *let me check my notes… oh yeah, telling her to get out of the vehicle.

11

u/SomethingAboutTrout Pittsford Jan 09 '26

The video I linked to shows Ross standing to the left of the SUV, his legs and feet clear of the wheels, tires, and body of the SUV. He's leaning forward, right arm extended across his body to point his gun at the windshield and fire the first bullet. As Renee Good drives away, he fires two more times through the open driver's window. All of which is in violation of the use of deadly force according to the DOJ.

The DOJ says that the SUV itself isn't enough to use deadly force—Renee would have had to show or threaten the use of a gun for example, and that Ross should have moved out of the way if he felt he was in danger as he had plenty of room to do so.

I asked why you're defending the murder of a civilian because you're trying to rationalize the murder of a civilian when you say "Maybe don’t impede and harass federal agents, ignore orders, then attempt to flee the scene when they finally are sick of your nonsense"

-1

u/dakware Jan 09 '26

I’m not defending the murder of a civilian- I’m defending his right to self defense.

You’re just repeating what the video says. Tell me where specifically the DOJ says the vehicle was not enough and she would have needed to show or threaten use of a gun.

11

u/SomethingAboutTrout Pittsford Jan 09 '26
  1. Firearms may not be discharged solely to disable moving vehicles. Specifically, firearms may not be discharged at a moving vehicle unless: (1) a person in the vehicle is threatening the officer or another person with deadly force by means other than the vehicle; or (2) the vehicle is operated in a manner that threatens to cause death or serious physical injury to the officer or others, and no other objectively reasonable means of defense appear to exist, which includes moving out of the path of the vehicle. Firearms may not be discharged from a moving vehicle except in exigent circumstances. In these situations, an officer must have an articulable reason for this use of deadly force.

It's self defense to continue firing two shots into the driver side window, after he had already shot her though the driver side windshield?

5

What about the two shots he fired through the driver side window? He already fired once, he needed to be sure she was dead? In his own self defense?

I tend to agree, but I also know there are extremes to both sides… Although I again would agree that one side is far worse- simply for instances such as this. It’s just giving ‘petulant child’. But you are wrong and experts say you are wrong so why are you acting like you have a leg to stand on?

14

u/SomethingAboutTrout Pittsford Jan 09 '26

Do believe it’s okay for the government agents to murder people?

23

u/Chefalo Jan 09 '26

It shouldn’t be that fucking hard to have morality. Freedom of speech used to be an unimpeachable right, now we just murder people for it.

You admit that you knew you were acting like a bootlicker and continue to do so yet you're somehow upset at being called exactly what you are. The boot you're licking is a Nazi boot. Whether or not you yourself are an actual Nazi is irrelevant. You ARE a Nazi bootlicker.

u/dakware Jan 09 '26

No, I admit knowing some dumbass would call me one. Lmao. Go ahead oh wise one- please enlighten us as to the definition and how it applies to me in this context.

-33

u/ShadySphincter0 Jan 09 '26

It’s all they do. They call you a “boot licker” and “nazi” like either of those from some twink is gonna hurt anyone’s feelings. But they got to say their internet words today.

u/LuxSerafina Jan 09 '26

Awww like your daddy doesn’t insult someone every time he opens his fat mouth.

Oh I’m not a trump supporter. I just think retards like yourself are insufferable. But nice try 👍

12

u/[deleted] Jan 09 '26

So you disagree with experts that state this was the ice agents fault, in fact the leading world expert who had the curated catalog of over 600 incidents already gave his opinion.

And here you are calling other RETARDS.

I got a question - where do you live in Rochester? How do you survive being this gross and disgusting? The truth is right there and yet you hate being called a Trump or Nazi supporter.

Maybe stop being those

u/tangelocs Jan 09 '26

Double down on not caring about being a Nazi, nice.

That’s an odd deduction to make about protests cuz I get yelled at by anti abortion protesters every single time I go into planned parenthood for my birth control. They literally have to buzz you into the building for security because these protestors have been so aggressive towards people who work there and towards the people receiving healthcare.

That’s because they stand for America, not the government.

Just block him. All u/KingofRoc does all day is post slop and tries to rile people up. Don't waste your energy

3

u/Kaleb8804 Jan 09 '26

I’ve got nothing but time lol, I’ve seen him around plenty.

u/olive12108 RIT Jan 09 '26

You have to remember though that these people exist to waste your time and make you angry. They are winning when you engage. I know sometimes the bait can be irresistible, but you need to do your best. Blocking them so you don't see their comments in the future makes it a lot easier. Also, it triggers the fuck out of them when you do it. Eat shit u/kingofroc

1

u/Kaleb8804 Jan 09 '26

What if I’m baiting you though? Lol

I know what you’re saying but tbf you’re also wasting your time warning people. That guy will make a new account as soon as he gets banned here lol.

I just don’t really give a shit either way lol

Trying to save people the small amount of pain and misery that I can. Can't make the horse drink though. Have a good one!.

u/[deleted] Jan 09 '26

I don’t know why you keep talking - the leading expert already stated ice was wrong, DHS policy wasn’t followed; the murderer is a repeat offender.

And here you are disgracing a mother and wife because you can’t shutup for one minute of your life to realize just how wrong you are.

It’s wild that people talk about your specific user name as being known as that shitty user who thinks they are fighting some fight - but they are just pathetic, lonely and don’t care about others.
