Recommendation Job Searching
Does anybody know of any places hiring for POTS friendly jobs in the area? I just cant be on my feet the entire shift and that seems to be making a difficult time to look for a job nigh on impossible.

If you’re okay with a call center, t mobile customer care in Henrietta pays great. I enjoyed my time there and they have sit stand desks!

I work at St Joseph’s Neighborhood Center, we will be posting a front desk position soon if it isn’t already posted, it’s definitely a POTS friendly job, it’s just a lot of customer service and phone calls

What’s your work background?

Lots of stuff. Bus driver, pharmacy tech, auto tech, child care. I would prefer something not customer facing but obviously im not being picky right now. Not being able to stand all shift also eliminates a surprising amount of customer facing shifts anyway

All districts are looking for paraprofessionals and it’s a days only job with fixed hours and benefits. Apply directly to district websites. Good luck :)

My friend with POTS works as a cashier at Wegmans, but he also uses a wheelchair.

Thank you for this. I’m trying to think of a second job that I could get using my wheelchair and I didn’t think Wegmans would accommodate.

Rochester Medical Transport took over a school bus contract and they need drivers

If you have POTS, you should be able to secure a job with reasonable accommodations. Good luck in your job search!

You’d be surprised at how hard getting a reasonable accommodation can actually be at some workplaces 😬

It shouldn’t be since it’s federal law

Do you have a disability? Have you tried?
Signed, Someone with a disability who had to fight like hell for months to get a reasonable accommodation

Yes. It was approved quickly and I was provided with a few different accommodations to choose from. If you’re having issues you can contact EEOC.

I’m so happy for you that you had an excellence experience while not having to worry about your livelihood or retaliation. Good for you!
A law worked for you so this must be the case For All People!!!

I didn’t worry about my livelihood or retaliation because I understand labor law and protections for people with disabilities. I also understand how to contact EEOC or a labor attorney if it gets to that point, but in my experience, companies can’t afford to be non compliant and end up getting sued.

Theoretically good but places dont have to tell you why theyre not hiring you.

And you also don’t have to disclose your disability or need for accommodations during an interview

u/Humboldt98 9h ago
Only if you want to keep the job

u/xxxiii 8h ago
They can’t fire you for your disability

u/Humboldt98 8h ago
Again, legally, of course they can't. Practically, I couldn't afford a pro bono layer right now

I would see about Pet Supplies Plus, since it's a franchise the managers have a lot of control
