Mellie the chipmunk popped inside for a quick snack selection! 🐿️

I offered her 2 hazelnuts and 2 almonds (all in the shell). Will she pick the hazelnuts or the almonds? Watch to see her completely max out her cheek pouch capacity! 😂

Flying Squirrels Feeding at the Squirrel Feeder in the Woods

I was in absolute pain and couldn't bend down. Luckily, Fluff came up to my level to help me out.

Flying Squirrel Gathering Acorns in the Woods

Psyche, just joking. Note: no squirrels were harmed in the making of this video.

Meet ‘Black Friend’.

Affectionately named by my mother who obviously didn’t have any better names for him. He would stare through the patio window and the window overlooking the backyard to harass my family for peanuts.

Once Black Friend intruded into the house looking for my mother while she left the sliding porch door open one summer day and knocked over a glass of red wine that stained a white carpet and sent my mothers chihuahuas (and dachshund) into a tizzy.

We haven’t seen Black Friend now for a few years unfortunately, but his family (we think his offspring) still come around for peanut treats :)

I discovered this new baby chipmunk (kit/pup) in my backyard on 10/5/2026. Names were suggested by viewers. Please click the link below to vote on Strawpoll, unfortunately there was no way to create the poll on reddit. You can also add additional names to the poll.

Before you look for a meow, meet my new backyard friend!

Did you know that a baby chipmunk is actually biologically called a kitten (or a kit/pup)?

I don't have a name for them yet and don't know if they are male or female.

Please recommend a name to be voted on later.

Not finished, just has hay and bedding as of now I’m waiting for some enrichment and hides to put throughout the bedding, what is a good rodent can fit in here?
(Edit) I will not be putting any rodent in here after your kind and helpful advice!) (I’m keeping this post up incase anyone with similar ideas and tank size sees this and becomes more informed on animal keeping)

Hi everyone! Just wanted to share a wonderful, traditionally painted image of Jake, the Piper. He's a minor character from the illustrated fantasy novel I'm working on, Capyhero.

We're currently developing the book's cover and Nick (the project's illustrator) is practicing his painting skills. He's the traditional artist doing all of Capyhero's 100+ interior ink illustrations and we'd like the book cover to also be created through traditional methods.

Anyways, I believe Jake is a field mouse. He plays in a musical woodland duo with his friend, Janis. She's a woodpecker who pecks her drum (pictured in the last image, which is a page spread from the book).

Hope folks here enjoy! ❤️

I officially ran out of nuts in the shell, and this little backyard resident is NOT happy about it! Fluff kept coming back hoping I'd magically restock the good stuff. Lesson learned: never run out of nuts! Has this ever happened to you?
