Rome Remastered Getting a black screen whenever I try to switch to resolutions.

I have a 9070XT so it should be able to do 4K for this game fine but whenever I try select it in the options or even 1440P I get a black screen, any idea why this is happening and how to fix it? I’m on Linux btw, steam os specifically

Which version is this? Linux native or Windows build via Proton? Clicking on information button in game banner at your library should reveal what is being used.

Last time i tested ( several years ago ) it was fine on my 7900 xtx with Linux build, only issue was if Mangohud is loaded game wont boot past Feral Launcher. Something with the launcher and hud interaction

It was the windows version through proton. I switched to the Linux version and im able to change resolutions in that one.

I think doing it in game is janky (I recall the last time I foolishly tried to change it in game via the menu, it melted down), changing via the ini should be fine.

I know that I have to disable Msaa quality (bottom right on advanced settings) otherwise it's black screen on my recent setup.
