Hey y'all. I have an RP5 that I got to be a steamdeck lite. Been enjoying it, (when I have the time to actually play) but I'll admit, the Nova hype is kinda getting to me. How much better is the Nova for gamenative? I'd probably try to get the 12gb ram version, but its expensive enough I can't really impulse buy it. Should I just stick with my RP5? Thanks in advance!

He was even kind enough to even accept my offer for €420 under the published €450 as I told him I couldn't afford it. I genuinely couldn't, but I really wanted this handheld but could not afford the likely €600-700 a new MAX model would cost with shipping and import fees.
I still feel bad for haggling for a lower price... since when I made the offer, I didn't know its condition and assumed the worst (it ended up being in mint condition). Nor did I know it was a launch unit which apparently goes for an even higher used price due to its UFS 4.0 storage being much faster than the current UFS 3.1 Max model selling for $579.00.
You the MVP. I will do my best to pay this back by also selling future handhelds for reasonable prices.

I've owned a GPD Win 2 a couple years back, and the weight was the main reason I barely ever played with it, it just wasn't as nice to play with, so I sold it.
I honestly think, anything much more than the AynThor in terms of weight will get more and more uncomfortable. Of course weight is not the only attribute that matters when it comes to comfort but it's important. As for instance, the New Nintendo 3DS XL doesn't have the nicest shape to hold, but it's still okay because it's relativley light.
So overall im a bit worried about the weight of the DDS. it's "only" 50g more. But there is a certain point at which you'll start feeling every 10 gram more. I'd argue that starts somewhere after the 380g of tha aynthor.
But yea, lets wait and see, would be interesting to know from people who're going to own both.

Silent Hill has been one of my favorite games since I was a kid. I was 9 or 10 when I first played it, and I still remember how scared I was. I think it’s a masterpiece.
I really love the RG DS Plus, and Silent Hill felt like a perfect fit for two screens, so I adapted the community Silent Hill PC Port for it. It runs natively on ROCKNIXDS, not in an emulator. The game is on the top screen, and the original inventory runs live on the bottom one, so you can pick items, heal and reload while the world keeps going. The map opens on the bottom screen too, instantly, without pausing the game. The controls follow the classic PlayStation layout, and it runs at a steady 30 fps on both screens, like the original.
No game files are included. You need your own copy of Silent Hill (USA) for the PlayStation. To install it, download the zip from the release page, put your disc image into the game folder, run the prepare script and copy the ports folder to your console.
This is the first release, so there may be bugs. Some of them come from the PC port itself. If you run into something, please open an issue on GitHub with screenshots and logs.
Big thanks to the silent-hill-decomp team and the Silent Hill PC Port contributors. This port wouldn’t exist without their work. AI tools were among the tools I used in this project.

Does anyone happen to have a saved copy of version v19, or at least v18, of Nickzmenu? I’ve searched through many sites and only managed to find version v17, as all other download links no longer work. I would be very grateful.

I want to take your opinion friends
I have konkr G3 and love it so much to the point that my 7840u handheld is collecting dust
If a game can be played on both systems,I prefer to play it on my konkr
So should I trade my G3 konkr with 8 elite ones like Odin 3 or konkr elite?
Or G3 is enough with 7840u?

I've had this little cutie RG35XX H on stock OS for about a year, and I was kinda surprised how smoothly this cheap H700 handled Moonlight streaming. So I started putting a lightweight Linux on it, mainly because I wanted to turn it into a pocket frontend for my own AI agents (talk to it, it talks back, that kind of thing).
Along the way I realized just having a decent desktop Linux on this thing is already pretty great on its own. A real Debian with SSH, Moonlight, Tailscale and HDMI out in your pocket. So before going further with the AI part, I cleaned it up and I'm open sourcing the base as Handtop.
What it does right now:
- Debian 13 desktop (labwc), on top of ROCKNIX's kernel/drivers
- Gamepad works as mouse + keyboard: stick moves the cursor, A/B click, right stick scrolls, X brings up an on-screen keyboard
- Moonlight with hardware decoding. 1080p60 HEVC is smooth on 5 GHz wifi (on 2.4 GHz it can stutter a bit, since wifi and bluetooth share the same radio), and tapping Start turns it into an Xbox pad for the stream
- SSH, Tailscale, Firefox, terminal, plus whatever else you install with apt
- HDMI out (monitor only / extend / mirror). In monitor-only mode the handheld screen becomes a big keyboard, which is fun
- Sleep/wake, etc
I've taken it outside with my portable display and a bt mouse/keyboard, using it instead of a laptop, and it's been quite a fun experience so far.
Just flash the image to an SD card like any other firmware and boot. Login is rg / rg35xxh, and SSH stays off until you turn it on from the menu.
Full disclosure: I built this with claude. I did the planning and testing, and claude wrote most of the code and build scripts. It's only tested on my RG35XX H so far, and with 1 GB of RAM heavy websites are slow (Moonlight to your PC is the way for those).
GitHub (source + image): https://github.com/junsulee119/handtop
Would love feedback, bug reports, or to hear if anyone gets it running on other H700 devices!

‘Battery Saver’ and ‘Balanced’ aren’t working well on all consoles—even Tetris on Gameboy is slow with choppy audio while using no shaders in ‘Balanced’ mode. ‘Performance’ mode seems to work fine. I just updated to the latest version but I was having the same issues prior to that. What’s going on?

Top row: RG35XXSP, RG35XXH, Modded 2DS, Nintendo DSI (with R4)
Bottom row: Miyoo Mini V4, Miyoo Mini Plus, RG Nano
Not in pic: 256gb LCD Steam Deck
Lately I've been wanting to emulate PS2 and GC and after the release of the Retroid Pocket Nova this had me seriously thinking about getting another handheld as an alternative to using my Steam Deck for emulation (paranoid something might brick my SD). Also just to have a more powerful handheld to take with me on the go.
I wouldn't need a dual screen handheld seeing as I'm covered for DS and 3DS but just have been looking at the handheld market with interest. Possibly something in the $200-$300 price range that could also do some like PC (mostly indie games but skyrim would be a dream if possible).

Update:
Thanks for all the replies, and for sharing pics of your transparent Nova's, they do look awesome. This really helped me decide on what to do. I ended up ordering the 12GB Black model in the end (with the official grip).
Grabbed the 12GB model for insurance since it wasn't that much more. I'm sure 8GB would have been plenty for what I'll be playing but it does have the SD 8 Gen 2 which can utilize that extra RAM in some scenarios.
Thought through the need of the bumped out back plate but decided to just grab the official grip instead since this is a DPOT device. Stick heavy games where the sticks are on bottom generally benefit a lot from a grip anyway which is not compatible with the bumped out back plate.
I'll likely pick up a bumped black plate in a future AE order when I grab the official case and screen protector, probably during the 11:11 sale.
Now I just have to wait it out!
--
Hi all.
I'm happy to report I finally landed a new job after about a 6 month search, it's been a real journey landing something but I finally have start date in a few weeks and singed the papers already.
As part of this new job celebration I'm gifting myself a new SBC handheld! I've been really good about not buying things while laid off (duh) but here we are.
I should state I did have the RP Duo in my cart ready to go but it's just not doing it for me. I just think there's too many compromises, and I'm willing to wait for the Thor 2 to hopefully get what I'm after.
So this led me back to the RP Nova which like the 477M feels like 4:3 perfection, only more portable.
I've had my eye on it since it launched. It just seems like the perfect size with the best 4:3 OLED screen available. The 8 Gen 2 is still pretty amazing even in late 2026 especially since it only needs to feed 960P.
So I'm 99% sold the Nova but when I went to order the Black model as I typically do for my SBCs, I noticed they are sold out of the bumped out back plate which I really want to try out for ergonomics.
I'm hoping to avoid the official grip as I think the RP Nova is the first handheld by Retroid (I have 6 other Retroid handhelds) that may not actually need the official grip which really adds to the portability and bring it with you everywhere kind of thing.
This leaves with a bit of a dilemma.
I've been trying to find real life images of the RP Nova in the various color choices as they never really look the screenshots on the product pages.
While 16 Bit would be an ideal alternative, I really dislike skittle buttons and I'm not going to rip it apart just to change them, that's just too much effort very little little gain, so I'd rather avoid that altogether.
So I think I've narrowed it to either Ice Blue (have RP Flip 2 in Ice Blue) but I'm worried it's more Ice "Green/Blue" like my RP Flip 2 is. It still looks good to me but I'd rather have Blue. The pictures I've seen of RP Nova Ice Blue do look more Blue to me than the RP Flip 2 Ice Blue.
The other color choices that look attractive are Ice Purple and Crystal. I just watched CyberDopamine's YouTube review on the RP Nova and the Crystal here looked great to me.
So I'm hoping for feedback from anyone who already owns any of these colors. Do they look like the image I've attached here?
Few other questions, no worries if you don't know.
- Anyone know the approx. wait time for the Nova if ordering today?
- The 12GB model is not that much more money than the 8 here. Do you think it's worth it?
While I went with 8GB in my 477M I'm being tugged in the 12GB direction simply for the added versatility it could bring (preloaded shaders/shader cache stutter reduction as an example). I'm curious what others think here.
Thanks in advance!

Download the port (Bring your own game) on NextOS Discord - https://discord.gg/ywSsh8pSg
Disclosure: the port was developed by NextOS Team (it's not mine), I believe they used AI, although it's not disclosed, but considering the author updated the release four times in the last 2 days, that's a pretty good assumption.

Currently I'm using my Zenfone 10 as a SteamDeck-like device by using DroidDeck
Specs
Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2
740 graphics
6gb RAM
I did this because I find my Deck extremely heavy and bulky to carry around unfortunately
Is there any device e.g
Ayn Thor
RP5 / RP6
Ect
That has more ram and would be worth the cost of a whole new device?
Looking for 16gb of ram because I feel like it's mainly ram that's holding me back for more demanding games
I haven't tried things like Switch 1 or Wii U on my current device but those would be nice if an upgrade could make those possible
I'm leaving towards a Ayn Thor I think
Purely because I prefer the clamshell as a design
But now with the Retroid Duo and similar comming out as well as the Flip2 existing I'm confused on what's better for my use case out of the flat devices and the clamshell ones
HDMI out main screen would be a welcome addition too if there's a device that offers that
Plan to run AmadaOS or DroidDeck
TLDR
Looking for an upgrade and a device with HDMI out that can hopefully do Switch and Wii U
Extra question
Does the Wii U emulator Android version or the Linux version [through DroidDeck] support using both screens on a 2 screen device?
ALTERNATIVELY
I've got the LCD SteamDeck motherboard still in a small 3D case [SteamBrick]
Would it be better to use the main deck board and buy a battery [100 money] instead? Would that work as a portable device? [Assuming I use my screen glasses that I know work and a controller] - still probably annoying to travel with tho unfortunately because that involves packing 3 things not just 1
^ not my ideal solution
Cheers for answering
EDIT
Turns out my phone apparently has 8gb of RAM and not 6gb of RAM

I want a dedicated handheld where the physical design is part of the full gaming experience.
For example, the dual screens of Donkey Kong Game & Watch, or the left and right buttons on Ball and Vermin, which are functional parts of the gameplay itself.
The device’s form and controls are designed specifically around that one game, rather than being a generic handheld running software.
Ideally,
I want something pocketable, with excellent battery life and one or two simple, endlessly replayable action games that I can pick up and play instantly.

I needed to buy a few small micro sd cards for custom firmware, and found these on Amazon. A 3 pack for $17.97, which is pretty good for the current environment. Sold and shipped by Amazon.

These seem pretty much extinct at this point (due to production ending), and I really would like to get one. There's only one on eBay for an exorbitant price. Thanks in advance for any leads!!

Hi folks,
Wanted to buy a retro handheld for basic emulation. Did a lot of research but ended up being confused.
Max is I'd like to play some psp games
Now here's the catch, the r36S is $35 in India. The 36ultra is $40 and the rg35xxh is $70 dollar
Is the double price worth it?
Do they have the same performance?
Help would be much appreciated

Lot of discourse about the recent clamshells that Anbernic and Retroid are pushing out. This post is just me yapping shortly about them and summarizing most points, as well as what I'd want personally as an endgame device. This is strictly my own bias, feel free to let me know what you think.
In summary:
Retroid Duo: Great screens, not enough power for endgame, stick bottom which is strange for 3DS and other slightly modern titles you might play, unremovable stick caps that some people dislike comfort-wise
Anbernic RGDDS: Great concept, great design since it mimics 3DS, great performance, has a stylus, lackluster screens, horrendous pricing, not OLED, 60hz, ai button but officially stated that it can be remapped (was never too mad about this one since it could help translate games)
AYN Thor: Great screens, great performance, all glass makes it more fragile, bit thick, closes a bit harshly, uneven lip means it doesn't close flush, weird bottom screen ratio
For what I'd want is very simple and a mix of all 3
- Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 like the Thor
- OLED 120 hz for both screens, they can be 16:9 on top and 4:3 on bottom like the Duo
- Design can be similar to the RGDDS. The nostalgic look of RGDDS is peak but can be tweaked to be more modern like a slightly wider screen
- Plastic front, no lip unlike the Thor so it closes evenly
- Included stylus
Optional:
- Would be nice if it was a bit smaller but big isn't bad, would just be more of an at-home console or for bags rather than pockets
TLDR: snapdragon 8 gen 2, Duo screens, RGDDS's design more or less, with an included stylus would be my endgame. Until then I just wait until it (ever) exists
What are your guys thoughts and what would you be okay with/not be okay with for a potential "Dream Dual Screen Handheld"?

From what i was seeing with gamma(amazing work btw,we love you dude)
apart of me wants to pick up a duo lite over the lite plus.
im honestly just looking for 3ds,psp,and ds and nothing past that
my question is however...
when will we see a early test build for gamma nano, and would it be capable of emulating monster hunter 4 ultimate?
This is the only game i want to play from the 3ds and couldn't care less if its at 1 or 2x
thanks as always fellow retro gamers!
lite plus with screen protector and grip = 365cad
duo lite with screen protector and grip = 271cad

Heyo, I've made a few info cards for the upcoming 3DS-like handhelds, to help people make a choice.
The first image shows the PPI differences between the duo and the DDS, fun fact the original 3DS had a PPI of just 132.
The next 2 images show how the top screens on each device will handle scaling for other systems.
Imo the Duo will be a lot more versatile device despite having the weaker chip, and ofc 120Hz OLEDs are a huge advantage too. The DDS works best as a dedicated 3DS machine and is probably better than hunting for a 3DS XL in the used market.
(Note: PPI stands for Pixels Per Inch and is a good metric to check how clear/sharp a screen looks, the average iphone/android has around 350 - 450ppi)
Thanks to Robert Merriman for his console screen comparison website.
No AI was used for anything on this post, all the images were edited/made manually.

Hey people,
I've ordered a retroid pocket classic after the recent price drop and went with the retro colorway because all the others weren't in stock. However I feel like I won't enjoy the original button colors so I ordered so RP5 button replacements for the D-Pad and A, B, X and Y buttons.
However I also want to swap the start and select buttons so they're completely black instead of gray and wonder where I could purchase those separately. I have checked Aliexpress but haven't been able to find them (yet)
So I wanted to ask on here if anyone knows where I can order those.
Thanks for any help!

Surface Duo 2 has two massive 5.8” 4:3 OLED 90hz displays with an SD888 chipset
Ayaneo Pocket DS has one massive 7” 16:9 OLED 165hz and a big 5” 4:3 IPS 60hz bottom display with bad light bleed (see last pic) and a SD G3XG2 chipset
Surface Duo 2 is a phone and makes it versatile in that regard when used / not with a telescopic controller. Capable of 2x integer scaling all 3DS and on some games 3x. Struggles on heavier PS2 and Switch games.
Ayaneo Pocket DS has in-built controls (default analog sticks suck though) with much better cooling and capable of Wii U, Switch and PC emulation. Booting ArmadaOS on this is such a treat
These are overlooked handhelds due to the mega popularity of Thor, Retroid Duo and Anbernic DDS, etc. We are in the golden era of this hobby with all the options now available to us, I love dual screen handhelds and excited to see the competition heating up with Ayn, Anbernic, Ayaneo, Retroid etc.

Hello,
I have a Retroid Pocket 6 and a couple of weeks ago I updated the OS via OTA to version 1.0.0.404, which is currently the latest version available, and it broke the DisplayPort video output.
The bug is this: I connect via DP to my TV and it works fine as long as the TV is connected or the console is on. If I turn off the TV or turn off the console, then if I turn the TV or RP6 back on, or connect the cable to the USB-C to get the TV active again, the DP port is dead, it doesn't even charge. I have to reboot the RP6 for it to work again. In the release notes for this version, something is mentioned in the changelog: 'Fixed the power drain issue when connecting Retroid dual screen add-on during sleep mode'
Is there any repo where I can download the previous version and downgrade to it so I can use the previous one? The previous one is the one that came with the Retroid stock, the first time I updated it was a couple of weeks ago to version 1.0.0.404, which started having this problem.
Has anyone tried LineageOS on the RP6? Is it stable?
How about ArmadaOS? Anything broken that would prevent using it to replace Android?
If you can point me in the right direction, I'd be very grateful.
PD: I posted this a few days ago in the Retroid sub, but didn't get any info. Reddit suggested reposting here. Thanks.
