Has to happen to somebody. That was me 5 years ago. Waited for 2 hours and got nothing during returning registration and then waited another 2 hours in open registration just for Thursday and Sunday tickets.

For those of you who didn’t get anything please get in a buying group. It’s still stressful but much less so when you have friends to help you. We were all on a zoom call together telling jokes and reminiscing.

Good question. We’ve been in several by now. Start with friends you know, who know others. But at each con we try to make connections. Keep in touch a couple times a year too. If there is NO spreadsheet or similar, run away. The key is make friends as hard as it sounds. I’ve heard of good connections and bad, I know it’s hard to trust others but try we must.

Yeah. Didnt even get a single day and got sold out. 'Fun'. Will try again for General sale. Might have to consider doing the Volunteer thing or even looking into professional/press badge type thing.

My luck ran out - after 2 straight years of all 4 days (including winning the lottery our first year 😀) - Sunday only. Thursday sold out as I entered the room.

You had to attend WonderCon 2026, book an official WonderCon hotel, stay at least 2 nights, and bring proof of your stay to the Hall D desk to register. It's the first time CCI has done this, and we suspect it's because they weren't getting enough people staying in the official hotels (which are slightly more expensive than those in the area).

I never go in at the start of the Waiting Room. No need to waste an hour or more. I usually go in about 8:30. Enough time to make sure everything is working, but not wasting a bunch of time.

Yup if I learned anything from SDCC and the second chance drawings, it's that things aren't always first come first served, it operates on luck of the draw.

Bro, you don't need to be there at 7:30, I always get into the queue 10 min before 9, at 9am the system randomize all the entries
Edit: also I'm adding after the system tells me how much time to expect, if it says more than an hour, I just check every 15 minutes or so if something has changed, you don't need to be there all the time waiting for the toucan to move

This. My luck for the last 3 years has been zip on the return sale and then have better luck in Open.
This is the first year I have been able to snag more than a day in returning (edit: since they switched to this system).

When I first got in it said over an hour wait. But then at about 9:10am it switched to 50 min wait. By 9:20 it was 18 min wait. Then I was in at 9:32 but there was no option for preview night anymore. Still got 4 days, though, thankfully.

I managed to grab tickets for Thursday, Friday, and Sunday. I nearly got Saturday, but it sold out just before I could complete the purchase. They disappeared really fast. Hopefully, I'll secure the remaining ones during the general registration. I've been able to in previous years.

Sis got us all days with preview this year, let's go. She got in and got out by 915am PST! Fastest any of us got badges ever. Sadly Preview and Saturday ran out when I tried to get my bro badges, Saturday gone right when I logged in! We'll try during Open. Let's go!

Got mine but only due to my friend group. Had two laptops going and neither got in at all.
Unpopular opinion but I REALLY think that CCI needs to go back to one login per Memeber ID, prior to 9 am. Allowing so many randos in the queue just bogs it down.

Yes, because you are no longer forced to login ahead of the sale, so people sit there with multiple browsers open clogging up the queue. Worse, they don’t close those additional browsers after they buy or where bought for - so many who could have otherwise made it to the sale page are blocked.

I do close my extra browsers when I'm done... but I don't believe it makes any difference. I think the system is set up to hold your spot, even if the browser unexpectedly closes.

Before they sold out you had to select all 4 days on your purchase screen and click continue or checkout first. Then on the next screen it offered the preview night ticket option.

For Returning Registration, the max number of people that can participate is 130,000. For Open Registration, it's unlimited and estimated to be more than a million.

I get that. I’ve just had a ton more luck with open registration, because I load multiple accounts from people who aren’t going but created an account.
For returning, it’s just me, one account, one chance and I get screwed every year I’ve tried this way.
But hey yeah, if you gave a cadre of six friends, each in the cue for returnee, someone will get through. Or rather, the 40% returnee thing applies.

That doesn't make sense for how it works. Your Member ID doesn't get used until you're actually selected to buy badges. You could have 37 Member IDs (which isn't allowed, but lets say you did), or you could have no Member ID at all. You could still join the Waiting Room.
I don't think that you understand that each individual person can be running multiple browsers that are all in the Waiting Room.

Well yeah, I just thought they somehow tracked the member IDs with the links they send you and just recycle you into the same spot if you just clicked on the links multiple times.
Guess not? I was just assuming they’d be smarter so you couldn’t run 45 browsers at the same time.
So my question becomes, why make it look like your special golden ticket links in the emails they send out?
Why not just “hey everyone just go the F here.”

My dad and I have a tradition of going to San Diego Comic-Con together every year. We had to stop for a few years, but a couple of years ago we started going together again. For 3 years in a row, we were able to get all 4 days through Returning Registration with very little hassle. Last year, we did everything we normally do, but both my father and I were stuck back in the queue so far, Saturday was sold out before we could get it. We couldn't get it in the General Sale either. We still decided to go even though we didn't have Saturday tickets.
Just now, we were back to doing what we normally do. I was on the page right at 7:30AM and stayed there, and when the queue opened up, both my father and I had "over an hour" wait time in the portal. I understand it's random, so that's okay, but this year BOTH Friday and Saturday were sold out and I still had 20 minutes before I could be let in. I logged off after that point because it is too expensive a trip for just Thursday and Sunday badges.
My question is: I seem to be getting pushed back in the line further and further every year, and now my dad and I are in jeaprody of missing our yearly trip if we can't get them in the General Sale. Has something changed? What are we doing wrong?

BTW you're just wasting time if you're in the Waiting Room at 7:30 AM. As long as you're there by 8:59 AM you're fine. You get no better odds by entering early.

Yeah, I entered the waiting room 30 minutes prior to start, and my buddy got in 15 minutes later. And he got in to buy us tickets 30 minutes before I did. Was able to get all 4 days, whereas I would have only been able to get thursday and sunday.

It helps a lot to join a buying group. We created our own from family and friends and friends of friends. This year, I was lucky enough to get in within 3 minutes, but other years, my buying group has saved me.

Confirmation emails come immediately. Check your spam, and check your Member ID account under both “My Account Information” and “My Communication Settings” that you opted-in for e-mails – Opt-in is not the default.
I believe you can re-send your confirmation email from Member ID too... haven't done that in a while.
