How To Justify Saskatchewan Separating From Canada?

Just catching the odd phrase here and there about possible referendum for Saskatchewan to leave Canada. Of course this is nonsense. But is it partly true?

This province is way more land locked then Alberta, there is no way Sask could survive as its own country more ways then one. Why or why not on this?

Why not: 

  • we would be absolutely and fully screwed economically 

  • we would be annexed by the Americans and turned into a Puerto Rico with snow faster than you could say "hey that's a cool tank"

Why: 

  • some very very special idiots would make a lot of money from their participation in the process I guess?
