āwtf was I just readingā?
It's related to the famous Abyss rat scene. Apparently breathing freon isn't good for your lungs and blood system, so that scientists are trying the other ... orifices..

It is being researched in cased where intubation is dangerous. Having an additional method for getting oxygen into a human will save lives as long as we can get over our moral qualms. Perhaps if we can't, should we also forgo colonoscopies?

I went to the London Science Museum a few weeks ago. There I saw a set of 18th century bellows that were used to inflate a drowning victimās rectum with tobacco smoke. It was believed the tobacco smoke would bring the drowning victim round before it was realised it was hokum. I believe this is where the phrase āto blow smoke up ones arseā comes from. Whoād have known that 300 years later weād once again be trying to pump gasses up someoneās arse to save their life.
