Looking to start sim racing
Is it expensive to get a decent set up going? I’ve been falling in love with motor sports recently, 100% fh6 & I’m downloading F1 25 right now but I really want to get a wheel so I can play online in other racing games as a controller is tough for me(nerve damage in left side so I can’t stand Fr break or turn smoothly, I am the cookie cutter) so I wanna get a set up going. I already have a good pc & a 34 inch 1440p monitor. I plan only getting the Logitech g29 wheel and shifter. What is the cost for a decent seat? I’m nervous mounting a wheel lol. I plan to spend about $600-800 and am waiting for the BF sales

moza r5 bundle plus used/aliexpress/temu/amazon profile rig is in my opinion the best possible bang for your buck experience. should fit in your budget just about

Id say you can get in for less than 300USD if you're patient and capable of some DIY. 50 bucks for wood, screws, glue, borrow some tools, 150 for a wheel+pedals combo off facebook market, 50-100 for a basic monitor or three, another 50 for cables and shit.

Buy a cheap Logitech off of market place and make a stand. If you like it just go straight in deep. If you don’t then you haven’t spent much money. Going out and buying an R5 and a cheap rig is crazy… cause if you do like it then it won’t be long before your having to upgrade the whole set up

Buy the cheaper option first. Truth no one is saying here is that lots of people think they are fast, get absolutely smoked, and quit because they aren't Lewis Hamilton right out the box.

I concur with the Moza R5 bundle. You can find an affordable Next Level 2.0 racing stand on FB Marketplace. People resell them all the time.
All of that will give you room to expand. Then start thinking about haptic pads and pedals in a few months.
Once you start, it never ends. Enjoy! 😂

If he likes it he’ll end up having to sell all that at a loss to buy decent gear. Cheap logitec and a make shift stand is the way!

Blah, blah, blah

It’s true.. I and most people are evidence of it. No point spending money on good entry stuff to then sell it at a loss to buy actual decent stuff. May aswell spend as little as possible to find out if you like it or not first. Been there done it

If you have a decent pc id just start with LMU or Iracing, you’ll find it more “realistic” and a lot more sim like, get yourself an R5, it will be more than enough.

I watch a lot of those Iracing fails videos and it does look more beginner advertised than jumping into Le Mans or another sim and expecting good results

Forget G29
You don’t need to wait for Black Friday.
This Simagic Green Flag bundle will get you high quality gear that is highly customizable. You can later add a clutch pedal, haptics (highly recommended) and also different wheel rims.

It’s better than the Moza R5 people are recommending, imho
I assume a desk setup so you need to ensure your desk is sturdy and the chair doesn’t move when you brake. You can use the spare budget to consider a (very entry level) fixed sim rig, if you have space and can get your hands on a junkyard car seat
Microcenter has one example. It won’t be fantastic but it may be better than a desk setup. Or you can go to FB Marketplace and try to find a 2nd hand Simlab rig or something

Also games:
Old game but what brought me to Sim Racing was Project Cars 2. A great single player game with decent career mode, tons of cars and tracks
Forza is not made for a wheel so it doesn’t behave well. F1 is a level up towards simulation but still a bit arcadey
