Is that the price for a normal wedding or was yours extravagant?

Not the person but im familiar with chinese weddings. Thats mot extravagant at all. At least not in today's market. In 2012 maybe.

100k is basically considered like baseline. In the major cities its like, have a 100k+ plus weddings or dont at all if you cant afford that.

Several ive been to are easily 250k+ and their still not considered 'extravagant' merely 'good'

What does it all get spent on? Are they booking flyovers of helicopters or something?

Alot of guests for example (like 75-150+ people).

The venue itself. ive been in ones where they like almost book an entire hotel+its associated venues.

Dresses, ive seen brides with like 8 dresses each of them custom made costing like a few grand each.

The gold accessories and other expected gifts. Some brides expect like 10+ bangles, each costing anywhere from $500-3000~

Full makeup/photography/videography team.

Just to name a few things.

Edit: to be clear, most of these types of weddings also expect high gifts from visitors. Example ive seen gifts as high as $10k from a single family.
