46 u/Tall-Communication34 1d ago Goeorge Washington warned against political parties. 15 u/SlightlyConfuscated 1d ago And foreign entanglements 2 u/flip69 1d ago They all warned against having a standing army… 2 u/APence 1d ago “A well regulated militia” also… 1 u/flip69 1d ago Yes the citizens themselves being armed and capable… you know.. kinda like Sweden 1 u/Whogotthebutton 1d ago He was not the only one, just one of the first... on this island anyway. 1 u/pudukai 1d ago Silly George. What is life without a party? 6 u/mathazar- 1d ago why only 2? that's part of the problem 1 u/SlightlyConfuscated 1d ago I'm cool with 0, but more than 2 is asking for England's problems. No thanks on that. 1 u/Ilkhana 1d ago What? Due to first past the post they usually had just two parties. Labor and the Tories. 1 u/SlightlyConfuscated 1d ago There are 410 officially registered political parties in the UK. A quick Google search sorted that out 3 u/Ilkhana 1d ago If the parliament is always Tories or Labor with a PM from one of those two, what does it matter how many parties there are? The US has like 50 eligible parties but only 2 actually matter. 1 u/Proper-Raise-1450 1d ago The US also has plenty, just like in the UK they have basically no power: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_political_parties_in_the_United_States
