Rat everyone out to save himself? He'd be bragging about going there within a week. He would think he was being subtle while basically stating it plainly.
You have to remember that this is a man who had someone else level characters for him in online games he barely knows, then start streaming himself pretending to be a higher end player. He is genuinly so stupid and narcissistic that he didn't think other players would notice his lack of skill or familiarity with the game.
He literally has the mindset of an edgy teenager, he never grew up mentally.
i dislike Trump, but genuinely for him to reach the presidency despite fucking up multiple times, makes me think he is very people smart(it kinda makes what he does worse)
