Millennial, I got the belt and my mom would pull the hell out of my ears

At least half of core millennials where getting the belt. Even just as much a thr boomer generation. Only difference is it was for bad grades or acting stupid. You didnt have kids being beat for saying "fuck" like something out of a "Christmas Carroll".

Belt from dad or wooden spoon from mom. Either way asses were getting beat.

And I deserved every swing.

Man I hid my mom’s wooden spoon a couple times lol, she found that shit and there was retribution, my dad was a big dude and didn’t need a belt…

Yep. If I got the belt, I knew I did something that deserved it.

no, you didn't. i just don't believe in corporal punishment. It just doesn't sit right with me that a person, much much larger than yourself, can overpower and beat you in order to induce pain so that you learn not to do something again. I'm probably really biased here but as a millennial, i think we got it right. I also don't think gen Z is that complacent.

If you deliberately ran into a wall and your body gave you pain, did you deserve that pain?

not the same thing entirely.

would you be okay if your boss decided to punch you in the face because you didn't get your job done correctly the day before? you think you would learn your lesson and work harder?

I probably would learn my lesson to be fair.

I'm not saying you wouldn't. i would have respected my parents a lot more if they didn't beat me as a child. i don't condone that abuse on anyone, its not a good teaching tool and its the reason why more newer parents are shying away from that style of parenting.

Same. And I’ve absolutely told my kids, “I want to woop your ass right now. When I was a kid, that’s how your grandparents would have responded to what you just did, but I don’t think that shit’s right, so (consequence). Don’t push your luck and make me change my mind.”

I thought that was what this was saying. Millennials didn't have ps5s as kids, we were either raised by boomers or gen x.

I thought the meme was about how each generation raises kids. Like boomers and gen x beat ass millenials threaten to take shit or take shit and gen z do whatever that is. Because older gen z are almost 30 already

I'm convinced that's why my cousin has dumbo ears!

We got the thin plastic stick that balloons came on back in the day

Also millennial. Mom pulled the ears.

I was fortunate that my dad was a gentle giant but he took a different approach to punishment.

If we ever fucked up enough, my dad just got a weekend of free labor. And I mean the WHOLE weekend. Since I was 5 years old man… hauling big ass branches in the orchards to the burn pile by hand, stacking cords of firewood, cleaning up debris at job sites…. By the time my brother and I were teenagers we had better work ethics than most my dads co workers and definitely better workers than any other kids our age.

I remember specifically wishing it would’ve just been a belt to the ass so I could spend the weekends with friends

Gen-X. My father would strip me down to my underwear, tell me to stand there until he finished eating so he could beat me, then use the buckle side of the belt, his hands (not fists, but backhands and slaps), sometimes a fishing pole, sometimes a stick. Once he beat with a ruler then beat me some more because I "broke" the ruler as he was beating me.
