Presumably it will carry people too and not be a remote controlled vanity project

It’s a super car. All super cars are impractical for all intent and purposes. You won’t buy it to get groceries or pickup kids. I am surprised that rocket version is just 500k, price it at 1M and rich people will line up to buy exclusive invite only car.

Point of a super car is that it’s…. drumroll…. “super”, and it has to be super by all measures.

Credit where its due, even if it’s a vanity project.

Even by the low standards of supercar practicality this thing is useless and stupid.

It will never in a million years be road legal, and no track on planet earth will let you drive a jumping (it doesnt fly, flying requires sustaining flight) car without closing the entire track down. The barriers and safety design is simply not built for this.

So you'd be spending an enormous amount of money for something that lets be real is likely never going to see the light of day production wise, and is extraordinarily limited in where you can take it.

I wont deny it is an impressive if ultimately stupid and pointless tech demo, even by the standards of billionaire toys.

Just to be clear there are 4 versions of this car and only “invite only” version has rockets which you have been commenting on.

There are so many supercars which are not street legal as they are meant for tracks. Bugatti Bolide, Pagani Hauyra R, Zonda R and the list goes on. Being road legal is not a measure of a successful supercar.

You are measuring it based on your own experiences, but the thing is 99.999999% of human population will never experience a supercar or the utility of it.

If this car is delivered people will buy it, it’s as simple as that.

No amount of irrelevant comments here will mean to supercar buyers as they live in a different world 😂

FWIW the 'thrust' version uses the rockets to propel to 60mph in 0.9 sec.

I am keenly aware of many cars that are not road legal. As a racing driver I've operated several.

Hence my point about tracks.

Most people who buy non-road legal cars want to take them to a track and do what with them? Generally drive them at the limit wheel to wheel.

No track on planet earth will allow a car with thrusters to share a track with anyone else. As the thrusters are, to anyone with a functioning brain, a massive safety hazard to other vehicles on track. On top of this the barriers and safety systems are not designed for a car that can leave the ground.

So lets recap.

You did not dispute a shred of what I said, in fact you validated it.

The models that are not road legal will likely never be allowed on a track unless you pay an enormous sum to shut the whole thing down and independently pay the safety staff for you to just drive in circles by yourself.

Driving a track solo is nowhere near as fun as being wheel to wheel

So the "roadster" has extremely limited utility and usability outside of elons singular proposed "hot wheels track." Which is a track day insurance company's worst nightmare. And yes rich people care about insurance. Know why? Because they may buy expensive things but they stay rich by protecting investments and not pissing money away. If you dont know this then i know youre poor. Thankfully I'm not.

Thus this car is fucking stupid, like the people who like it.

It is truly that simple. And anyone not seeing this is quite frankly an absolute idiot.

So the new argument is “no track on planet will allow it”? Earlier it was its not road legal.

How can they allow or disallow a product which did not exist just a day ago? Are you Nostradamus?

Stop throwing these hyperbole arguments and writing 2 page replies on a point which you cannot predict nor control.
