If you dont want to send any messages you just dont say shit at all. How hard would it have been for them to never say anything? Or what if they just said "We're so happy to see everyone here tonight get together and enjoy the music"
instead by bringing up others who are sending messages and framing it in a negative way, they are sending a message as well. They made a POINT to bring it up. They could have just not done it at all, right?
