No, it was an issue where people wouldnt recycle the pieces together.

Edit: It is incredibly fucking annoying to drink from now too

See that‘s the point I never got: Who tf does not keep them together? Like the cap‘s on the bottle, you remove it to drink/pour the liquid into a different container and put the cap back on. Why would I ever separate the bottle from the cap?

Stupid people need additional features so their stupidity doesn't prevail. Why do you think there is a note on bleach that one shouldn't drink it?

1

u/Drownthem 2h ago

Its more that stupid people think attaching a bottle cap to a bottle is a positive move in the right direction and will now allow themselves to continue their unchecked consumption guilt-free. Plastic recycling owes its very roots to this sort of empty gesture so it's hardly surprising.

Why would I ever separate the bottle from the cap?

I swear that use to be the requirement to recycle them; remove the cap and cut off the tamper evident seal ring because they were made of dissimilar plastics and the caps weren't accepted.

Now I'm pretty sure everything goes through a massive shredder and is sorted with magnetism, eddy currants, and an optical system with air jets to seperate chunks.

it's fun to close bottle with air and step on it. then kick off the bottlecap as it shoots off lol

4

u/kRe4ture 5h ago

Bullshit. At the beginning it was annoying, now the bottles have a mechanism for the cap to stay fully opened, and it‘s great.

skill issue

1

u/Venoxulous 6h ago

Facts man! I need to watch YouTube videos on gitting gud.

2

u/gokarrt 6h ago

interesting. they won't recycle the caps here.

1

u/SkellyboneZ 6h ago

Yeah where I am we recycle the cap separately, but I can also get these annoying ass attached cap shit in vending machines.

4

u/justins_dad 6h ago

They are not annoying. The trick is to turn the cap to the side. When I first used them, I had the cap opposite my mouth and it would hit my nose. To the side and there’s no issue.

u/Acrobatic-Layer2993 6h ago

Sounds annoying

5

u/Venoxulous 6h ago

I disagree. I am physically larger than average and no matter what I do it is in the way.

2

u/Horror-Show-3774 5h ago

Are you trying to wear the bottle?

2

u/Venoxulous 5h ago

Yes. Am I doing it wrong?

3

u/kigra67 5h ago

you need to eat the cap first

3

u/Venoxulous 5h ago

That's where I've gone wrong man! Thankyou!

Whether or not they suck depends a lot on the implementation. Drinking is generally fine, in my opinion.

However, the kind of cap many milk and juice cartons now use is absolutely miserable. It just clips down and can be opened by twisting it a little. They are extremely prone to leaking or just randomly opening entirely from the smallest amount of pressure. You literally can't lie them down anymore after they have been opened once or they might just spill their entire contents into the fridge.

1

u/Omega-Envych 4m ago

Yeah, Milk cartons have really shitty caps. Coke is mostly fine in comparison

2

u/NaturalDon 4h ago

holy fuck you're a genius i've just been letting it poke my nose for years, boy do i feel silly for disliking them

u/justins_dad 3h ago

Follow for more tips like this

2

u/NaturalDon 3h ago

there are some stones in my shoe its very uncomfortable every time i go out, i don't suppose you have a remedy

3

u/Drunkenstar 2h ago

Put the same amount of stones in your other shoe, that will even it out.

2

u/Moiahahahah 3h ago

The other trick is to just pulling it of. It's plastic, not mithril

1

u/senseven 5h ago

If you twist the caps most of them just stay fixed in place. There are new ones with the floating cap on little wire, you can just hold the cap. I don't get the drama.

1

u/Venoxulous 5h ago

Interesting, I'm not sure ive come across these yet!

I will keep an eye out. Might be a game changer

1

u/AC2BHAPPY 4h ago

We are literally supposed to separate them before recycling where im at

1

u/Fantastic-Mud-9869 4h ago

Even monkeys can do it. Skill issue.

1

u/Siphyre 2h ago

Where I live we are told to remove the caps from bottles and seperate them when we go to the landfill for recycling.

"It is incredibly fucking annoying to drink from now too"

It's really not.

You guys are actual children.

2

u/MrBlueA 5h ago

It is annoying though, to this day I still rip the cap off sometimes in some bottles because drinking from it is just horrible.

3

u/Horror-Show-3774 5h ago

I stand corrected. Children fare way better in the face of adversity than you guys.

2

u/Venoxulous 5h ago

Yet I understand the concepts of opinions 😊

2

u/Horror-Show-3774 5h ago

Sure. My opinion is that you guys are children.

u/Denaton_ 6h ago

If you think they are troublesome to drink from i think you have other problems you need to address. It doesn't require that much mentality to figure out to just put the cap sideways..

2

u/Thick-Shirt4385 6h ago

Another protip from Life experince: use a drinking glass

0

u/random_name869 6h ago

for some it obviously does...

1

u/IWantMoreSnow 6h ago

I never understand this argument, you an literally still rip it off. People act like it is somehow made of adamantium and can no longer be removed.

1

u/Solie_Puurina 5h ago

And get stabbed by the jagged plastic edge?

1

u/IWantMoreSnow 5h ago

Use scizzors or a knife? Idk do I need to hold your hand while you go to the bathroom aswell?

-2

u/Denaton_ 6h ago

And that tells me everything about their mental state..

0

u/Venoxulous 6h ago

I am physically larger than the average person. Close to 7 foot and ring sizes involve number type of large.

No matter what I do, it is in the way, but thank you for the clarification on my mental state from a single, unrelated comment! A savant with that level of ability is sure to go far.

2

u/lonelornfr 5h ago

I mean, if you're 7ft tall, you're probably strong enough to just break the cap free ?

1

u/Venoxulous 5h ago

I did in the past, but I heard that a lot of the caps are separated from the bottles after being thrown away. So was worried I would be inadvertently contributing to continuing the issue.

Its an annoyance, but if it keeps the planet tidy we deal with it!

0

u/angry_dingo 6h ago

Often the tops aren't recyclable plastic.

2

u/Lee1138 5h ago

You still don't want them ending up loose on the side of the street...

2

u/angry_dingo 5h ago

Littering is a different problem.

0

u/Flashy_Walk2806 6h ago

It's not

1

u/Venoxulous 6h ago

You're welcome to your opinion...

0

u/Real-Technician831 6h ago

It’s an intelligence test.

Only people so stupid you can’t operate a bottle cap complain about it
