I was against the idea initially, but now that they've been designed further I actually prefer the new caps.

Also they are being adopted in Asia too, although I suspect it's to cut on the manufacturing costs, so there's only one version produced, the one mandated on one of the world's biggest market. Either way, I'd say that makes the cup pretty successful and influential industrial design.

I had few unopened old water bottles with a detached cap and it's so annoying. I prefer the attached cap so much more.
