Because they are both performances... Knivel was just honest about it.

This isn't some amazing leap in technology, this is a marketing gimmick by someone who has spent years making people's life worse.

So at least we agree they're both performances. Glad we cleared that up.

Now apparently Evel Knievel was "honest" about his stunts, but Tesla isn't?

What exactly was dishonest about demonstrating a car performing a stunt in front of an audience?

Whether you personally dislike Musk doesn't somehow make the demonstration less impressive or the engineering team at Tesla behind it worthless. 😂

Yep... because he was putting on stunts, not trying to make some crazy gimmick to sell cars to rubes.

Do you think you are going to be buying cars with jump jets to get out of traffic jams?

Of course it's a marketing stunt. Who suggested otherwise? That doesn't make it dishonest.

Tesla explicitly said during the demonstration that the flying Roadster wasn't going to be a regular production model. They were showing what was possible, and even said the rocket version would only be available by invitation.

Nobody claimed people would be using jump jets to escape traffic jams.

I'm still not seeing why an elaborate stunt promoting a product is somehow objectionable simply because it's Tesla doing it.
