Fun fact: they weren't cinnamon buns, they were semlor in hot milk. And that was dessert after lobster, caviar, sauerkraut and champagne

My favorite King btw, he was critisized for not being warlike and mostly chilling with his family eating lobster and semlor
Realest guy there ever was

u/ZoominAlong 5h ago
I dunno that sounds like a decent king to me, not bankrupting his country for war. Not sure if the lobster and semlor made it tough though.

He also had almost no real power, parliament ran everything, so he spent his time making snuffboxes on a lathe. Absolute legend

And he ate them so called "hot wall", Hetvägg, which is a bowl of hot milk in addition to each semla.

u/mymoama 4h ago
Not how they looked back then

u/Acceptable_Item_8989 4h ago
How they looked back then?

Instead of being filled with almond paste and topped with whipped cream they were filled with chopped almonds and simmered in milk.

After making my first semlor last year I understand why as I would also like to eat 14 of them in 1 sitting

What are Semior? Google keeps changing it to senior and showing me recipes for bland diets to help old people.

SemLor, and other person already provided link to Wikipedia, but in Swedish plural changes end of the word, and it ends differently in different words. So, many semlas are semlor.

Kind of makes sense, the kings decomposing body must have tasted sweet-ish.

Fake news. Adolf Fredrik died after a big meal including, among other food, lobsters and sauerkraut and a lot of champagne. For dessert he ate a bunch of semlor, not cinnamon buns.
7
u/FrequentlyImpolite 6h ago
I was gonna say maybe they look like cinnamon buns but nope not even close. Looks like a dinner roll with some custard like filling and the top sprinkled in power sugar

u/SwingJugend 6h ago
The filling is whipped cream and almond paste. It's traditionally eaten before lent (but nowadays few Protestant Swedes fast, so it's just eaten on Shrove Tuesday and then whenever you feel like it during the month leading up to Easter). Although in Adolf Fredrik's day it was probably done without the fillings and was basically just a wheat bun served in a bowl of warm milk.

He probably would have survived if he hadn't eaten those 13 cinnamon buns earlier that day 😂

Im Swedish and it was another Swedish pastry called Semla and not Cinnamon buns
He had gorged himself all day on lots of different foods like lobsters and caviar and had a stroke after his 14th semla, or atleast that how the story goes. A bard at his court wrote a song about it that started spreading the story that he died from too many semlor

So this is good episode about the Semla, not cinnamon bun that got him sick, well he had been sick that week so it was most likely the last nail in the coffin.

kirk had a very distinct face, and when you see someone resembling him its kind of funny because the boy was an absolute meme.

Was the death somehow cinnamon bun related?
Or was it more like he ate some buns and then was killed by falling masonry?

I can't eat cinnamon buns, because once I start I can't stop. One time I woke up in ht middle of the night and went to the store to buy the ingredients to make my own and stayed up for hours making them. Sugar really is addictive as fuck. I'm 6 years sober by the grace of god.
RIP Adolf

And these were 18th century cinnamon buns too, not the concentrated diabetes and heart attack blocks at Cinnabon

so the real question is how do we know that he was killed by the bullet to the neck? What if he ate 14 cinnabuns before going on stage?

I have never enjoyed a cinnamon bun once in my entire life. It's like someone tried to make a coffee roll as nastily as possible.
2
u/DeMulia 6h ago
And wtf is a coffee roll?
4
2
u/I_EatAssFromTheFront 6h ago
Imagine an apple fritter only better. Now imagine a plain glazed donut only better. Now imagine the better apple fritter and better plain glazed donut fucked all night long while a cinnamon roll watched weeping from the cuck chair. Their perfect baby...... the coffee roll.

I have to ask. Have you ever been to Cinnabon? There's cinnamon buns then there is Cinnabon
1
u/I_EatAssFromTheFront 6h ago
I have and I hated it. Bottom too wet. Top too sticky. Outside too crusty and bland. Inside too mushy and bland. Top tastes like burnt tree bark dust because thats exactly what cinnamon is after browning it.
The glaze is good, but it never fully dries and seals and protects it like a donut glaze. It only causes a mess as you attempt to unpeel it.
If you fully peeled that first crusty layer off, skim off the top and bottom, and core out that uncooked middle leaving only the semi-decent part, and offered the glaze warmed as a dipping option, I would still think they are pretty shitty, but take a couple bites to not be completely rude.
I'd rather eat an entire can of room temperature green beans than take one bite of a shittamon roll.
