I mean if you think people suck at driving now just wait till they try to flip their car over yours to steal a parking spot.

The version they demonstrated is an "invite only" purchase and a track car. Tesla actually ever producing it is another story.

Did they ever produce the original Roadster? I’ve never seen one.

No. And realistically there will probably only ever be the base model, assuming they ever make it. The other versions can't be street legal. The dumbass thrusters aside, you can't really get a fan car legal. All that air is being exhausted somewhere and usually backwards. It's a hazard to motorcyclists, and would just be a general nuisance to anyone stuck following.

Also, it needs a skirt to work. The demo did not show one. If I had to guess, that car was propelled by magnets or cables, because I have a hard time believing it could grip such a tight radius loop. If you research how McMurtry built their skirt, it's really cool tech. But it's really only practical on a track surface that can seal well and doesn't have tons of bumps. The radius of that loop should have been enough to crack a seal on any skirt that isn't super-flexible. And again, we just don't see the skirt.

Now, it's possible that all those boxes on the undercarriage are ducts that have some extending skirts that can better conform to contours in a road's surface. But that would easily be the coolest tech they could show, and it would actually be practical for track settings, as opposed to the stupid RCS thrusters. But they didn't focus on that at all.

So my conclusion is that this is a hollowed out shell with some thrusters, which is why you have no interior camera shots of it flying around. Then they might have a showroom model with an actual interior and nonfunctional parts slapped on.

This is all to distract from some earnings mishap, I'm sure.

I really enjoyed all you had to say. I keep asking if he ever came out with the original because….how many times we gonna do this? I think I calculated it’s 10 years since the last one was promised but, why do people take his word or even get excited?

It’s new. Believe there is a street version. A version meant for race tracks and such and then the thruster version although I don’t know how available that will be. You certainly won’t see it on the road.

Did they produce the original Roadster though?

I don’t know but I think so. Have no idea if they’ve actually gone into production but believe you might see them on the road soon.

Doubt it's going to happen in our lifetime, if ever.

Right? Joking aside what even would be the IRL implications and uses of this even if all features are completely real and available?

You’re not cliff diving, blasting off from a traffic jam or to flipping in to grab that parking spot.

Even for the super rich with more money than sense what would they make like a trick course for the car?

Bottom line it just won't be road legal. You probably won't even be allowed to have it in your own garage. It's going to be stored at a facility and you're basically paying for the privilege to drive it at that facility, or maybe certain tracks.

Edit: So I looked it up, there are 3 or 4 variants, 3 of them have this thruster shit and one of them can do the jump thing I think, they will never be road legal and do not qualify as aircraft. One of them is meant for track use. The performance variant is the only one that doesn't do any of that, and is also the only one that MIGHT be road legal.

Is rn short for some kind of fantasy realm?

"It exists" lol

Ya no one said it doesnt exist, we said it was a stage prop instead of a car

It likely would be classified as an aircraft and require a pilot's license.

It'll more likely flip onto your car.

I'm less concerned with that, as it will never clear production, but more concerned with the excessive speed claims they'll try to get away with.

People do not need access to vehicles that can be driven that fast, it is insanely dangerous giving people access to cars that can achieve acceleration and speeds that would make racecars blush.

Even if it was automated it would still be dangerous, Teslas kill plenty of people when the JohnnyCab is driving it.
