SPY is up 71% over the last 5 years… 80% in 5 years is hardly above average compared to the rest of the market

And they don’t sell those ones because they don’t want to pay the tax, so they just take out loans against the stocks instead.

Gotta love that taxing unrealized gains would be wrong but they can get loans for it. I've said multiple times this is like giving someone a loan to play the lottery and its either an asset that gets taxed or its not worth anything and the excuse that it would ruin your retirement is the baked in reason to continue this oligarchist economy that is trying to hide as a capitalist economy.

They can tax unrealized gains when it's property, but god forbid you talk about doing it with stock

Exactly and if you push the point they fall back on but that would be taxing your retirement. Like they haven't set that system up over thr last 40 years to give them access to more money to up thier value and when the market goes south the regular people are the ones that may hit rock bottom while the rich gets parachutes to soften thier landing if they are going to lose to much.

The difference is that the bank can voluntarily assume the risk of the loan. It’s on the bank to believe whether the stock has value or not. Punishing those holding stocks when they haven’t fully realized the gains is just ridiculous. When the gain is realized, the income will be taxed. Should we start taxing college students on the potential income they’ll receive based on the likelihood their majors will yield an income?

The vast majority of the major defense contractors’ stocks have underperformed the S&P 500 over the past 5 years, and all of the major ones have underperformed the index YTD.

You misspelled VA benefits and servicemen salaries, as well as salaries of the army of defense sector workers.

That s where 90% of the budget is going.

Defense corporate profits hover around 50-70B which isn’t that much compared to 1.2-1.5T va + defense budget.

Irrelevant to what I said. Let me repeat it so we can stay on point, Defense contractors stocks going BBRRRRRRRR right now

And what you said is irrelevant to the topic.

90% of tax money is handed out to leeches.

Stocks going brrrr have very little to do with tax money.
