i love when people do that, i'll tell a truck driver to have a good trip and they say "you too!" cracks me up every time.

Or when someone asks how are you doing? And you answer with asking how they are doing?

Flying Spaghetti Monster forbid they actually take the time to answer. Then you get sucked into a conversation about their troubles involving people you don’t know in situations you don’t particularly care about.

I’ve had customer service people do that. I assume I was saving some office somewhere from a working losing it over their own personal drama.

It hasn’t happened recently, likely because calls are monitored/recorded/reviewed by some advanced system to flag them for being unproductive.

"How are you doing?"
"Hi"

that one always makes me chuckle too

The pizza delivery guy told me "enjoy your meal" and my immediate reply was "you too" while he was getting back on his bike. I just laughed and gave him a thumbs up. I was hungrier than embarrassed, but I won't forget it.

Same has happened with wait staff in restaurants, LOL. And with cashiers when they tell "come back soon". I just auto-reply.

I know this is a joke. But learn to be comfortable in your own skin. Doing things like this is actually a little funny anecdote to start a conversation about.

After you say you too you could just laugh and say "I can't believe I just said that" now if there's anything there she'll probably respond with a joke too and from there you can have a conversation.

If not she smiles and moves on nothing ventured nothing gained. Learn to talk boys

No way dude. We'd rather just be haunted by the fumble.

100% this was made from personal experience lol.

And this next part I say as an indigenous pale... brother lay out in the sun on those 9 days you can each year.

I did this once. I have terrible social anxiety so I’ll never let it go.

Yeah I’m still haunted by that time when I wanted to be nice and ask a guy who had just cheked in at our hôtel if he wanted an extra bottel of shampoo just to look up to find that he was completely bald.

And then, stupid me just started to laugh at the situation. But he didn’t. I still feel bad 20 years after.

Je m’excuse tellement monsieur!!! J’étais sur le pilote automatique. Ahhhh je m’excuse tellement!!!!!
