Progress Melasma fading, early days!

It's hard to tell but I've noticed I don't need as much makeup to cover up the part above my mouth! It's early days, only a couple weeks, but I'm so pleased, I haven't had any shift in 2 years until now!!

Oral tranxemic acid, azelaic acid, tazarotene and niacinamide at the moment! I also changed my birth control.

Question Dove beauty bar

• Upvotes

Hi, I'm considering on perhaps trying the dove beauty bar. For context, I have oily and sensitive skin and just dark spots on my chin. I've never used it on my face and I'm curious if I should try it out based on my skin type and people who have had other experiences

Question Why does milk give me breakouts but chocolate doesn't?

Milk causes me to breakout when I consume it on its own, in a latte, milkshake or tea and cheese does too, but milk chocolate bars like Snickers, Twix, etc doesn't break me out. Does anyone know why that may be? Or has anyone experienced this?

Question London aesthetician recommendations?

I’m looking for an aesthetician I can visit regularly who can look at my skin and tell me what it needs, whether that’s a treatment, botox, exfoliation, or whatever. I just don’t want to figure it out myself. Do you have any recommendations? Preferably in North/West/Central London.

Product Suggestion A light, non-greasy, non comedogenic SPF moisturiser for combination skin, that you have tried?

UK. I currently have contact dermatitis on my neck, jaw, and undereye from using Aqueous cream as a soap. The only product I can put on it currently is E45 moisturizer, and water.

My skin is really sensitive, and I have keratosis pilaris so my skin gets painfully dry when not moisturised. I have no acne, dry combination skin, and it's difficult finding a moisturising spf product that isn't oily, clogs my pores, and has perfume in it. I find even basic E45 to be heavy and oily. Please help.

A product with Hyaluronic acid would be welcome but not necessary. Searching online I have found:

  • CeraVe Invisible Hydrating Sunscreen SPF 30
  • E45 SPF50+ Sensitive Sun Cream for Face with Hyaluronic Acid
  • Eucerin Sensitive Protect Face Sun Cream SPF50+

but I've seen these products have mixed reviews, has anyone tried any of these products?

Product Suggestion Recommendation for a laser device as an alternative to Niraskin.

Hi guys, I'm looking for an upgrade to Niraskin device. Their device has broken constantly and haven't really seen results. Around a similar price but can pay a bit more for better performance. I'm also in the UK so have to be able to purchase here. Thanks 🙏🏼

Product Suggestion how to deal with sebaceous filaments and hyperpigmentation??

I have skin that’s both oily and dry (somehow) and is sensitive and acne prone. My acne is more manageable these days and has been fading (spare my obsessive picking) so what’s left is just a really dark underchin, like MULTIPLE shades darker than my actually skin tone.

I’ve learnt (correctly me if I’m wrong) that you cannot completely eradicate sebaceous filaments, but is does anyone have suggestions on how to maybe reduce them and have my skin feeling less oily? I’ve seem a lot of talk about salicylic acid toners but I’d love more takes.

As for the hyperpigmentation, I’ve been recommended alpha arbutin but again, would love more opinions.

For more context, I use the Refy cleanser, Beauty of Joseon sunscreen, Garnier salycilic acid hydrating cream, Simple toner, Simple moisturiser, Cien vitamin c serum, and Ordinary AHA peeling solution as my main products. Also have a Kojic acid tumeric night mask i use now again. I also wear makeup pretty often, full face i’d say once or twice a week. I’ve pretty much always had skin issues, since I was a kid, so do with that what you will.

Thanks for any advice you can give!!🫶

Routine Help Cetaphil Gentle Alts?

Has anyone found a good alternative to Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser?

I use it in the morning because it’s so gentle but it feels a bit too goopy and lipidy for my fragile skin. I’m looking for something to gently rinse off actives in the morning.

Product Suggestion Salicylic Acid Cleanser really worked for my partner with large clogged pores on nose

If anyone's struggling with large pores with blackheads on their nose - my partner had the same and recently tried Salicylic Acid Cleanser, he used the Inkey List and it worked really well for him! Others might be different but definitely worth a try, as nothing has worked before for him. His routine being using the cleanser and then moisturising. Other salicylic acid cleansers may be the same/similar ingredients. I've just never seen his skin so clear, like you can't see any clogged pores at all anymore

Routine Help Did La Roche Posay alter their formula of their Anthelios UVMUNE invisible fluid this year?

In July I opened a new bottle of my usual LRP Invisible Fluid and noticed that it was more white and thicker than usual (it's usually quite thin, runny and quite yellow). A couple weeks later and my skin exploded. I bought 2 new bottles in case there was something wrong with my bottle and it was the same new consistency.

I've been trying to find anything online that says they amended the formulation but can't find anything, only stuff about the oil control version. Has anyone else had this problem?

Product Suggestion How to fix genetic under eye bags

Thumbnail

Hi, getting outside of my comfort zone here lol and long time lurker. As the title states, sunken under eyes run in my family. I have been a little overwhelmed with where to look. I’ve tried the holland and Barrett vitamin c brightening serum with hyaluronic acid but my skin became extremely irritated. As of now I just wash my face with a CeraVe hydrating cleanser, and face lotion as well as jojoba oil when it’s feeling extra dry.

I try not to wear under eye makeup as it enhances my bags. I’m 25 and am just hoping there’s something I can do about it without getting surgery when I’m older. Not trying to look younger, just more awake! Any suggestions would be much appreciated, thank you!! 😊

Product Suggestion Mecca Cosmetica To Save Face SPF 50+ Brightening Sun Serum Alternative

Hi Everyone,

I have been using Mecca Cosmetica To Save Face SPF 50+ Brightening Sun Serum for a couple of years now and I love it. I wear it in place of a moisturiser and my skin looks great with it.

BUT it's been out of stock for a while now. Anyone know where I might be able to get my hands on some or suggest an alternative.

What I like about it is it's one step moisture and SPF. Very light weight glowy finish. Has other skincare ingredients like naicinamide.

Anu suggestions welcome. Happy to spend about £40 a bottle.

Hi all! I have been using Kiehl’s vital skin strengthening super serum for a while and it’s literally the best and (almost) only product I use regularly. However it is a bit expensive for me and I am looking for cheaper alternatives. Any advice would be appreciated!

Routine Help Crows feet - anything that can be done outside of Botox?

Hello

I’m looking to improve crows feet when I smile. They’re only present when I smile, but they’re very deep when I do and I’m insecure about it

As far as I can research, the only thing I can see that would help would be Botox

Has anyone had any luck with any other products or avenues?

Thank you in advance

Question Painful Finacea purge, is this normal or should I stop ? Help !

So I've been using finacea 15% gel for a total of 9/10 weeks. I say a total as I had a 2 week break midway through( at 5 weeks use) as my skin was purging really bad and I had a wedding to go to ! It cleared up in those two weeks, but I picked it back up and have been using it every other day consistently for nearly 5 weeks. My chin and forehead are NOT happy. I currently have 15+ spots on each, some painful under the skin and some angry pustules/ papules. I've got a few popping up above my mouth / below my nose now too. Weirdly my cheeks which are usually super sensitive are responding pretty well ! I started the finacea for type 2 roseca and hornonal, but right now it's a 100% worse than it was .

My question is do I keep going ? Is this a normal timeline for finacea ? Or accept that it's probably not for me ? My skin is incredibly sensitive and fussy, I can't help but think it Just needs a break and some tlc for a little while!

Ive been prescribed combined BC for the hormonal and dermatica have sent me a compound cream for the type 2 with AA 15% + 1% ivermectin. I'm annoyed they have done this as I specifically asked for no AA and Just the ivermectin! They have said that even though I've purged badly with the finacea 15%, this is a different formula and base cream so it should be gentler on my skin !

Other products I am using

Aveno calm and resrore cleanser or bioderma sensibo pink bottle gel cleanser ( depending on how my face is feeling !) I only wash in the PM and just water wash in the AM

Aveno calm and restore oat gel moisturiser

I'm not loving the moisturiser, it feels like it's causing Cc's, any suggestions for a better moisturiser to help my barrier would be welcomed ! My skin hates niacinide, fatty alcohols, butters and the jury is out on squalane as I think it was the reason I had 50 milia recently removed !

Sorry for the long post I'm just unsure what you do for the best and fed up of my skin looking shitty x

Question Recent breakout caused by Tesco non-bio detergent

Looking for recommendations for the best non-bio or eco friendly detergent/powder to clean my pillowcases and clothes in. The only recent change I did was use an old Tesco non-bio powder box I never used when I finished moving. Looked at ingredients and has perfumes.

I used Persil 3in1 bio pods before and somehow I didn’t get as many breakouts as non bio gave me. But I want to move on from that too.

Since the four washes I’ve done, every night my skin wakes up with blemishes and itchiness that turns into whiteheads. It has to be the powder as I get acne only on my temples, eyebrows and cheekbones where I basically press my face into the pillowcase.

What do you guys use that protects your skin but also cleans fabrics properly?

Question Hormonal acne supplements - do they actually work? Which one is best?

Hello hello, I’m sure I’m not the only person who has got the dreaded issue of “hit my 30s and am plagued with hormonal acne that does not seem to shift no matter what I do”.

I was on the combined pill for several years when I was younger, had to switch to the progesterone only pill due to developing migraines, and it started playing havoc with my skin, and when I eventually came off of it about 6 years ago, my chin acne has been a pretty much constant stay (and way worse than it ever was with the mini pill). I always had relatively clear skin prior to this, and don’t tend to get it anywhere else, other than the occasional spot across my t zone or on my cheeks. But the chin is constant!

I have tried what feels like every blemish-targeting skincare product out there, including a long run of using a targeted cream that had tretinoin in it from a skin+me subscription for a couple of years that did work somewhat, but after a while stopped really making any change.

I have seen threads in here about Monday Muse’s clarity complex supplement, and a lot of people saying it worked well for them, but there were also a fair few people saying they had quite bad reactions to it too.

I’ve now also started getting adverts for another similar supplement called Cloudless, and I wanted to know if anyone has tried that (or Monday Muse recently either)?

Or if there are any others on the market that won’t break the bank, that have worked well for you, please also let me know! I probably should try and see a dermatologist but am wary that they may not be able to prescribe me something like roaccutane due to the number of other medications I’m on that would interact poorly with it, so am trying to find something I can do myself first.

I’m just so fed up of looking in the mirror everyday and hating looking at my skin, and it being so painful for a good week or two every month around parts of my cycle!

Product Suggestion The best hand creams?

Thumbnail

I used to always have fake nails, but recently stopped due to crappy nail techs and prices going wild. But ever since, I've noticed my skin becoming aggravated in places where things must not have touched before. I work in pharmacy so I'm working with paper and opening med boxes every day. The skin on my thumb and in between my fingers have become so peeled back and flared!

The only creams I've tried so far is Aveeno hand cream, Aveeno intensive and Neutrogrena. I also use cuticle oil/cream all the time and regularly apply while at work. I need something that'll absorb really well and really nourish my skin.

Question thoughts on the Fresh Recovery Overnight mask?

my skin is an absolute pain, it’s so dry on one side of my cheek which has acne and redness (same with my forehead). it hates any kinds of acids and only seems to be okay with one face mask from lush and the cerave hydrating non foaming cleanser.

has anyone in a similar scenario to me tried the Fresh floral overnight mask? it seems to be alright but i seriously don’t want to annoy my skin, i just want the redness and acne gone without using acids because they don’t seem to work.
