We get Fox Farms from Green Coast Hydroponics. Quality at prices that can’t be beat!!

Seconding green coast. You can get a pallet of fox farm for roughly $600. Fox farm beats everything else I’ve tried by miles.

I didn’t even think about the pallet. That’s awesome. Order one and be done for season. Thank you for that great idea!!

There are soil yards all over the place, just look at Google or Yelp.

And don't pay for mulch or compost. Both are available in bulk, and free of charge, by many cities and at landfills.

Thank you I didn't know that

Yes, a lot of good options. Which county would you be looking for soil in?

Be careful with city compost and mulch. They may carry insects and diseases. Just FYI.

I thought when things are composted sufficiently this kills most disease causing organisms, no?

That’s the general idea but City has so much material that not all of it can be composted properly. I’m not saying city materials are horrible or don’t use them. I’m just saying exercise caution or let them sit for a few months, after you get them, to let them decompose more. Our neighbors will get the city compost and mix in a bag of store bought compost and let it sit for 3 or 4 months and then they use it.

I'm in orange county and have been using city compost for years without any issues. I have like 35ish trees that I add compost to.

Not familiar with OC program. I was referring to LA City program. Glad to hear that you have had such a positive experience :)

Good to know whereabouts are you located to provide better suggestions.

Soil yards around give a very good price if you are looking for bulk and it’s usually worth getting some extra if you are asking them to deliver.

If you happen to be near the I.E.... Wolfinbargers is the place to go.

Welcome.

Aside from actual landscape supply places, check wholesale (or just large) nurseries too. Many will have at least a couple bulk soil options.

Sounds like you're out towards LA, so Wolfies probably wouldn't be a realistic option unless you need a LOT of soil and/or are in the eastern SGV...not sure what their current delivery policy is, but I'd imagine someplace closer to you would be cheaper in the long run, even if the price per yard is on the high side (Wolfinbarger's product is top-notch, though)

Zip code is best. SoCal cities can be massive.
