Billionaires want to pay no taxes so they cut programs that keep people alive? News at 11.

If Elon wore a blouse with a plunging neckline, people would accuse him of having his breasts done. Poor busty Elon, he just can't win.

If leon actually raised or loved his kids people might accuse him of being a decent father or human being.

You mean his spawn.

Tried and failed to end Social Security with a lie…

I would hope that if Elon cures cancer that nobody here would take that jab.

Yep. If you told me today, I could get a shot and never have cancer, but told me it was from Elon, I would believe it as much as I believe that "flying" car was actually flying.

Unless Elon knew for a fact that he had cancer, research of cancer to him is just wasteful spending. The day he finds out he has cancer he will want every public dollar he can muster put into his specific cancer research.

If Elon Musk staged a PR event that claimed he created a cure for cancer and and AIDS using compressed air, would his fan boys believe it?

Slap after slap and they keep turning cheeks like being strapped to a wheel in an Epstein party

100% - the key word in the sentence: ‘if’. Reality is he isn’t using his immense wealth and influence for something good like that, and doubtless ever will.

Let him prove he can do good and then we’ll see…

Lots of people would die because once injected, you can’t recall vaccines. And getting one from someone that doesn’t understand basic science concepts is better to not think about it. Don’t give him ideas.

If Elon created a cancer cure, he would be lying.

I mean cancer research with tax payer money been happening for 100 years… it’s one hell of a slush funds for the old guard

The NIH is one of the biggest economic ROI that the government makes.

For cancer research specifically it was cut by 19% With a cap at 15% for administrative costs where it was over 30% before was strongly evidence to suggest corruption and how the funds were being distributed, with 2500 people lost their jobs. Result… Outside of this sub Reddit it’s widely accepted as much welcome reversal of corruption if you look into it with an open mind which no one from this sub Reddit can or will even consider doing

Cancer "research" is a joke. The medical community makes hundreds of billions every year treating symptoms. Cancer is a massive cash cow for the US medical cartel. It has absolutely no interest in finding a cure.

Yeah and the entire rest of the world and scientific community is in on it? Fucking stupid...

You think it’s at all possible that “cancer research” could possibly contain waste, fraud, and abuse. Or do you think every last dollar was perfectly spent?

If there was so much waste fraud and abuse why is no one on trail?

Because self-enrichment doesn’t like telling on itself. A portion of federal aid is just taking money from poor people in our country and giving it to rich people in other countries. It’s not all bad, but I promise you, federal aid doesn’t all go where you think it goes. I mean, how many times has this story been told. Hell, go watch War Dogs. Its not aid, but people love taking advantage of government money (taxes).

NIH funding is already rigorously vetted by independent, external sources.

I’ve worked in government for 20 years. It was heavily, heavily regulated. Guess what? It doesn’t always go where it’s supposed to. One of the bigger ones I saw was a 20 million civic revitalization project in a larger city. The contractor did quite well. The project completed and we now have a new bike lane and some green space. The contractor had huge administrative costs. And his subcontractors had huge administrative costs. Two years later the bike lanes were removed and turned into parking stalls. Guess who the contractor was for removal of the bike path and installing the parking bays? Those close know exactly what happened, the auditors didn’t.

It’s rampant.

Corruption happening in a completely separate field that is overseen by completely different entities is not evidence of corruption happening in other places like cancer research.

If that's true, then it would've been great if DOGE was basing their cuts on that kind of information. I think everyone can agree that kind of wasteful spending is not good.

But it's irrelevant, because DOGE wasn't targeting which cuts to make based on any of that. They were targeting off the word "trans" and anything they deemed to be too liberal. That's it.

It was something that could've been used for good, and instead was a partisan garbage dump.
