What is this guy?
galleryWife saw this in our backyard and was afraid of it. He was just chilling motionless on a couple strands of silk. I poked it and it scrambled back up a few inches before going motionless again. I don't like killing things unless needed so I asked chat gpt and it said orb weaver. Anyone agree/disagree?
(Sorry for the bad pics)

One of my Pholcus Phalangioides
Just a surprisingly clear shot of my female Pholcus, Loo-Side-Lunatic (LSL). One of my Pholcus that I caught to keep her warm as our bathroom is getting damn cold over winter (no heather, outside wall). She loves to stare at me as she always rotates in her net to follow me around, even though they are nearly blind.
Dont vacuum those little DERPS, they are harmless and love eating your pests. And they are fun to watch. Like Steatoda Triangulosa they are more active than one might think. Especially if you get them to hunt if you feed them Drosophilia if natural prey coverage is low.
I still try to catch the Nosferatu thar lives in our laundry room in the basement though.

What spider is that?
Can anyone please tell me what type of spider this is? My wife was cutting branches from the bushes in our backyard and this one surfaced in the trash bin shortly after. It has a pretty huge body, in relation to its legs and a very bright, orange color. We are based in central Europe, if that helps⌠Gemini suggests it could be a âAraneus quadratusâ⌠But, personally, I know nothing about spiders, so I could need some help here.

Help with identifying the species/genus of a Danish spider â conclusion
gallery(It is from Ishøj, Denmark)
The closest candidate for the genus might be Zelotes? But since Gnaphosidae is not my area of expertise, this is only a tentative guess as to the genus. Two possible specific species, however, could be Zelotes latreillei or Zelotes subterraneus.
As I said, itâs not exactly my strong suit. There are other families and genera that I specialize in more. In general, morphology within the order Araneae isnât my area of expertise; rather, itâs taxonomy and biology.
I am considering these candidates because I found the individual in Denmark on Zealand in Ishøj Municipality. It was found on a country estate in a small natural gem, inside a tent that has been left untouched all summer long. Here the fauna has been allowed to fend for itself, and I found close to 50 individuals of Araneae â including many juvenile individuals. When I subsequently searched the tent thoroughly, this specimen appeared.
By the way, shouldn't this be a female? And maybe a subadult or adult individual? What do you think? You are welcome to make your precise bid as well as a justification for the genus or species you are leaning towards.[Zelotes Sp er indberettet pü Danmarks officielle artsportal arter.dk er en del af mission økosystem](https://youtube.com/shorts/kBE21gdB5PI?si=7eVjY94rbBD1c-ss)

Good Spider?
Just saw this black and yellow garden spider commonly called a writing spider and learned that this one is a female which usually lays eggs in a brownish pod that can hatch up to 100 in the spring and will naturally get rid of other insects around the home. Just donât get too close or disturb it.

Cellar spider roomie
I have this female cellar spider thatâs been living in my room for a few months. Iâm normally pretty scared of spiders but sheâs really chill and just stays in her corner. I named her Charlotte after Charlotteâs web (real original I know). Anyways Iâve gotten a bit attached to her and I wanna make sure sheâs comfortable. Is there anything I can do to help her out?

Spider kissed my cheek goodnight, how sweet
I really hope someone can laugh at this. Very short story. As the title suggests, tw mention of a spider.
I (F) live on my own. Have done so for a few years now. Last year, around the same time as now (june, summer time) I had aâŚ. drop of baby spiders in my room. Short version- a lot of baby spiders made its way from the tree near my window to all over my room. Me just sitting on my bed with the lights off didnât notice them until I got up. Like any sane adult I screamed and cried and called my sister.
All was well after someone sprayed some sort of spider poison and I got help shaking đ¤˘them out of my clothes/ stuff.
A lot of washes later. I lived spider free. The poison stuff lasts a while so I survived the spider season.
I have to mention I live in Europe, the worst thing a spider bite over here could do is give me a fever. Not a big deal.
Usually Iâm not that squeemish, but I do have sensory issues, especially around their webs. (And spiders touching me).
Fast forward to today, aka 20min ago.
I was peacefully trying to fall a sleep, almost there, when I feel something on my face. Figuring it was just hair or my pillow, I tried focusing on the feeling. Definitely an insect. I felt a little leg and then another. Gently picking it off my face while squishing it (so sorry but what else could I have done) I prayed it was just a weird musquito. It wasnât.
I just woke up because there was a spider wishing me goodnightđđ
Since this is very niche and doesnât happen often I should feel honouredđ
After trying not to panic, calling my bf twice (he was trying to be sweet about it and comforting me lol) I vacuumed my whole room and googled why it might have done that.
The panic now sort of avoided- I think Iâm ready to try and sleep again without feeling it all over me.
horrifying, well goodnight, pls no more critters wishing me thatđđ
