Bus 2444 in Route 15

Why does he drive as if he doesn’t care about his passengers’ safety?

I understand the importance of being considerate of other people’s experiences, but this has gone on for too long. Every time I take the bus home after a long day, he drives so recklessly that it genuinely becomes a safety concern.

He speeds over rubble and bumps, starts driving before passengers have even sat down, and brakes so abruptly that people are thrown from their seats. He even drives onto the sidewalk to avoid taking a slightly longer route around a curve.

I’ve tried to be understanding, but this happens almost every day, and there seems to be no effort to change. I’ve spoken to other people in my area, and they’ve expressed the same concerns about his driving.

Is this kind of driving acceptable under Metrobus policies? Are we expected to put up with this until he quits or something? I understand that driving a bus isn’t easy, but passenger safety should be the bare minimum. We shouldn’t have to worry about getting home safely every time we board the bus.

Edit: Since there seem to be a few misunderstandings, I just want to clarify a few things:

  1. I only moved here a few months ago, so I wasn’t aware that I could file a complaint directly with Metrobus.

  2. I’ve spoken to this driver countless times, asking if he was okay or having a bad day and politely asking him to be more careful while driving.

  3. What pushed me to finally make this post was seeing an elderly man literally fly out of his seat. Flopped like a fish. At that point, I wasn’t going to let it slide.

  4. Just because I didn’t file a complaint months ago doesn’t mean my experiences are made up or exaggerated. This has genuinely been happening for months, and I’m frustrated because, despite my attempts to be understanding, nothing has changed.

Thanks.

Hi everyone! I’m looking to start a nonfiction book club in Newfoundland focused on scientific books, from astronomy and biology to physics, neuroscience, and beyond. The goal is to explore fascinating ideas, share perspectives, and enjoy thoughtful discussions. Would anyone be interested in joining or helping organize this group?

Siding Company Recommendations (St. John's Area)

Hi all,

I live in the St. John's area and am looking for recommendations for a reputable siding company.

I want someone who can give a quote, be reliable, and show up when they say.

I also wouldn't mind knowing what companies I should stay away from. (Feel free to PM.)

Thank-you so much. 🙂

Murray Premises hotel

I am coming into St. John's for work and decided to extend my trip for the weekend to hit up George st!

I got a room at the Murray Premises hotel for $122 a night. I'm wondering if this is a good enough hotel to crash after a night of drinking but I also like to sleep with a tv on so don't want really thin walls (also other reasons there 😉) should I switch to a more expensive hotel??

Best spots in St. John's for natural light and authentic Newfoundland food photography?

I'm trying to shoot some local dishes the way they actually look here, not the way Portland food stylists think they should look. The golden hour light around Signal Hill and Battery Road is unreal for landscapes, but I'm struggling with restaurant interiors. The darker pubs and heritage spots have so much character but my shots are coming out flat or too yellow. Anyone found a lunch spot with great natural window light that still feels like real Newfoundland? Or a dinner place that doesn't blast everything with overhead LEDs? I'm also curious about shooting outdoors with actual weather happening. Tried to grab a shot of fish and chips in the mist last week and it was a disaster. Wondering if there's a covered porch or sheltered spot somewhere that still has that harbour vibe without destroying my gear. Bonus if they serve something worth photographing. Not looking to stage anything fake, just want the food to look as good as it tastes.

Blundstones sole repair?

This was a dumb move, but I put my feet on the edge of a fire pit while a fire was burning and slightly melted the sole of one of my boots. Is there a reputable place in town that can replace the sole? They could use a little refreshing too.

Thanks!

Not actively seeking right now but will start in future. As an outsider to St John's, would like to have a general idea about how it's like to live in this neighborhood. What's the average rent like?

After Dark at O'Brien Farm

Hi! 31F visiting from the U.S. next week and decided to get a ticket to the After Dark event at O'Brien Farm. I'm staying downtown and planning to take rideshare or bus. Just wanted to see if anyone else is heading to the event 10/22 at 7 p.m. and might want to meet up or hang out.

Also, I collect snow globes and I've looked through photos of possibly every souvenir shop around town on Google Maps and do not see any that carries them. Anyone have a lead? I'm fine with any size.

Where to get liverwurst?

Post image
6 Upvotes

Hi all -

As title says, is there a place in the area where one could acquire liverwurst? I saw them in Sobey’s & Walmart months ago but recently I’ve asked around and those particular stores haven’t been carrying it. I understand that the little cans exist, but they’re a bit pricey for the amount of liverwurst I’m looking to get. I’m looking more for ones that are sold like the picture attached (in an even larger quantity if possible).

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated - thank you!

You Can See Everything - new Nathan Fielder doc

I’ve been looking forward to going to see this since the first clip dropped and finally thought, oh I bet I can buy my tickets in advance! But it isn’t listed as showing here, the closest to us is in Halifax. I know it’s probably more a niche market and we are so small but I am actually so sad! Can you request that the theatre brings movies here? Hahah though I assume it’s related to their distributer or whatever. Anyways just felt like half ranting-half hoping someone can tell me I am mistaken 👀

Screech in

Where is the best place to get screeched in when you have someone with social anxiety/super shy with you? Somewhere that is a bit more chill and won’t attract the attention of the entire bar/pub maybe?

Willing to drive a couple hours out of town! We’ve both been here for 11 years and still haven’t been screeched in😳

Thanks!! ☺️

Non-Prescription Hearing Aids

Might be a long shot but does anyone know if there's anywhere in town to buy something like this? My dad lost his Rx aids, and is on a wait list to get examined and have them replaced.

Google says Best Buy and Walmart might carry them but I'm only seeing online stock, not in store, and two weeks for delivery from Amazon. Hoping to pick up a cheap temporary replacement asap to prevent Mudder from going nuts 😅
