Part of the achievement update they are doing. They are taking page from Sony where DLC and such will be own subset. This way you can 100% base game and not have your 100% lost if DLC come out.

This is all im asking. I have a few games i have 100% or want to 100% but not the DLC or intend to buy the DLC and it sucks

I've got 100% in Satisfactory and they announced some DLC next year, which I may well pick up but it would be nice if it didn't remove the 100% either way

Just note, this will not automatically apply to all games. Devs have to take action and set up these groups, and I fear that this will not be done for quite a lot of older games, if the retroactive filling of the content questionnaire if anything to go by (a lot of devs didn't, which is why the german store is missing a lot of games from before ~2022).

Well hopefully going forward, most devs will utilize it

Also online (if devs did their work to manage achievements in their way)

not have your 100% lost if DLC come out

Insane how Valve basically just spit on actual achievement hunters just because some slackers wanted to have 100% without any effort🤦‍♂️ Just absurd that you now can have 100% without actually having 100%

I'm so upset that they removed the Average Game Completion Rate from the achievement showcases

Yes and it's also no longer counts actual 100%'ed games, just 100%'ed groups, which makes the number less meaningful imo. I got an entire group from TF2 with a single christmas achievement, and another one with four achievements from messing around with the replay editor for five minutes.

They are overhauling the whole achievement display. You can test it in beta. You will be letting developers group achievements so DLC achievements can be together, and those of the vanilla game. So you can complete subsets instead of only the 100% bar, which can be broken again when DLC achievements are added. With the new system not any more.

Would this new update in theory give me new perfect games if they split already existing achievement sets into single and multiplayer, or this will be only for new releases?

u/peepyboy 9h ago

I read somewhere else it's up to Devs to update previous games not steam

5

u/barelyangry 9h ago

Yeah, good luck then.

It may happen slowly but there are a lot of examples of very old games being given achievements, trading cards and profile items many years after release.

I agree with you, however these cases are rare and at least from the ones I've seen, they don't add/bring back multiplayer achievements at all.

I mean Portal 2 split into 2 of these and I got 2 more ribbons due to the Forza Horizon 5 splitting its DLCs like that too, so if the devs add that, it should give you "more"

u/barelyangry 5h ago

I don't see these groups on my desktop client. Is this still on beta?

For some reason Minecraft Dungeons has 64 rare achievements out of 104

u/LordManders 13h ago

I think it just goes off how many achievements are under 10% completed for them to count as rare.

4

u/Dan5000 5h ago

Instead of letting every achievement under 10% be a rare achievement, they could just make the lowest 10% of the games achievements be the rare achievements to not bloat the name "rare" too much.

I think that the current version works better. if we take a game with 10 achievements that you get for beating the game, and 65% have the final one, I don't really see why would it qualify as a rare one. If an achievement has an acquisition rate of less than 10% them most likely it is hard to get, so it makes sense why it's called rare.

1

u/Mugtoaster 13h ago

That and maybe it also tracks how many are hidden ones too.

u/ImKingFrosty 12h ago

Yeah I get it but it just feels so wrong to have soo many rare trophies

Nothing compared to the 512 out of 700 of Halo MCC.

People say Halo is their favor franchise and play the campaign once.

5

u/CybertronEchoes 11h ago

Just about every single call of duty achievement in the cod hq version of the game is rare.

u/PatrikPepega 10h ago

Only 0.3% of people did the tutorial in black ops 7

u/N0TS4FEOfficial 10h ago

i just wish that achievements would also give account xp, even if small ammounts like 5xp per achievement or even 1xp

11

u/Typowy_zakol 8h ago

You know there are games that have 3000 achievements just for opening the game, right? People use them to decorate their profiles.

u/Key-Department-2874 3h ago

Could be based off of completion rates.

2

u/Mineplayerminer 7h ago

I would be interested in categorizing the achievement rarity similar to what the Xbox or Sony does with the PlayStation's trophies. I think it would be more interesting to have more achievement rarities or maybe even some non-tradable rewards for users once they get all of them.

Yes i noticed this yesterday

u/Connor_rk 4h ago

You made me check and yeah, theres also "Base game" achivements seperated from DLC achivements, this is awesome

1

u/Glowing_Phallus 13h ago

Wow so like the platinum trophy filter on a 2006 ps3?

All kinda meaningless as long as people can unlock almost everything with SAM.

11

u/BraveNKobold 12h ago

Well that’s why we have the honor system

3

u/ApprehensiveStyle719 12h ago

Not trying to be asshole or funny but what’s the honor system?

2

u/ImKingFrosty 12h ago

Pretty sure he means that people who have high honor won't cheat and give themselves all achievements like low honor people would. And I am guessing the "high honor" and "low honor" part is supposed to be a RDR2 reference. I might be wrong tho

5

u/BraveNKobold 12h ago

It’s not a red dead reference. It’s a phrase that’s existed for a while. I trust you to not cheat as much as you trust me not to cheat. And if I had honor I’d follow it etc etc

0

u/ImKingFrosty 12h ago

Yeah that's my bad. I have only played 2 games till now which have a honor system or something related to that so that's why RDR2 came to my mind first. Plus everyone knows that game so it just made it easier to explain

2

u/Jordyissappig 11h ago

as if playstation plats mean anything.

True, Valve need to find a reliable way to shut down this kind of loophole. It will make earning achievements more gratifying & meaningful.

5

u/ImKingFrosty 12h ago

I mean afterall people can also just download the 100% completed save files from the internet so there's not much Valve or Players like us can do about it

3

u/theRinRin 11h ago

Most frustrating are games that add achievements after you got 100% already...

2

u/ApprehensiveStyle719 12h ago

True and it will simplify the hours and hours i putting in a single game lol

-2

u/Curious_Lead_7877 12h ago

Odd that people downvote you for just stating facts.

What's the point of showcasing anything if others can just get the same stuff with 2 mouseclicks, completely worthless.

2

u/ruthlesss11 11h ago

You can be a baby about anything if you think like that, no offense. Just apply it to anything else and it works the same and life is also the same in that it's unfair.

Sometimes achievements don't pop, or someone played somewhere else, a different console or pirated and bought later and they might want the achievements they got to carry over.

Some games' achievements won't work when using mods, sometimes they will but you still have to enable them. If it's just visual mods, maybe you still want the achievements.

Ive completed games to 100% but I don't care what others do tbh

2

u/PatheticGroundThing 5h ago

It's not a fact, it's an opinion.

-30

u/Crafty_Life_1764 12h ago

For the achievement hunters cause they can't do real shit in real life 😂👏

-6

u/Inwate 12h ago

German loser that watches anime says what?

-9

u/Alex-S-S 12h ago

As a side: people will play Forza for hundreds of hours and then complain about it. I pretty much stopped looking at both critique and player reviews.
