Did that guy take Ambien before recording his voice over?

Had he taken Ambien, he likely would have wandered off mid-recording to give some relationship advice to one of his houseplants.

This is awesome. Steam Link is the new Raspberry Pi. I just got my third one today, after putting one in my living room and bedroom. This third one is going to be for tinkering.

warning: do not attempt to change the kernel! it will brick itself

I know :) But good suggestion for other people who want to try this!

I already did a bit of research on running RetroArch or Kodi on it natively.

Holy hell I would love this. On mobile at the moment so unable to really dig but is it possible?

I’m a little bit drunk atm but I found this for RetroArch: https://steamcommunity.com/app/353380/discussions/1/1482109512299476145/

I did not know, and was considering trying. Thank you!

yea if the bootloader detects that the kernel's signature is not *exactly* the same it'll just brick

You can actually get around this with kexec, the device only checks for a Valve-signed kernel on boot, so you can kexec any kernel you want.

Not always, you could use kexec loaded as a kernel module through insmod. I've done it with an Arch Linux module

Raspberry Pi's and Android TV boxes are still way better. Steam links only have a single core 1GHZ processor and 1GB of RAM. Raspberry pi has a quad core and 1GB of RAM. Android TV boxes are where it's at. Mine has an octa core(2ghz) and 2GB of RAM. Runs the steam link app wonderfully, runs retroarch wonderfully, and runs Kodi way better than a steam link.

Well I didn’t mean as a 1 on 1 replacement, just a new device to tinker with, and for a euro really cheap.

Yeah. I grabbed my steam link when it was $5. It was a fun toy to tinker with but if you ever have a little extra cash, invest in an Android TV box. It's pretty much a way better steam link.

Already have one, and a raspberry :) But with tinkering I just meant doing some stuff like voice recognition or running motion detection software, not really for use as a streaming device.

I just want a proper RDP or VNC client to run on it :(

Edit awsome that you could do this OP!

Does anyone have a working binary? I tried building it but it failed. I got the tgz file but when I launch it it restarts the link.
