For Halloween this year, I will be dressed as Lord Licorice from Candyland.

In some of the Candyland board games, Lord Licorice is depicted holding a walking stick/cane of licorice. I decided to make a DIY licorice walking stick/staff to go along with the costume.

Supplies used for this project:

• Oak dowel 1 inch diameter by 36 inches

• 2-3/4" Dowel Cap (wooden sphere part) , 1" Hole (Had to widen hole a little bit to make dowel fit inside)

• Bright, red paint ( for dowel)

• Glossy, black spray paint (for end cap)

• Clear coat spray paint (for end cap)

• 5mm red twisted satin cord

• Wood glue (to fuse dowel and end cap together)

After I painted the wooden dowel a bright red, I wrapped the red cord around going in a spiraling pattern to make the the stick look like a twisted stick of licorice. I continuously turned the opposite end of the dowel to guide the cord around it.
