Intermixing songs

One of the things I love about their shows are the little bits they play of other songs, it's like a scavenger hunt. I was at the Philly show and thought they were about to play Everyday People before You Don't Miss Your Water. At each show I've been to I've heard a little Zeppelin or The Doors if they didn't just play a full song. One that I couldn't figure out from the Philly show was during Brace for Impact but it just hit me. Towards the end they mixed in Heroes by Bowie. Any other examples to look into?

Absolutely love the tagging and teasing of songs.

That’s the “jam band” thing that folks tell us they don’t like. Anybody who doesn’t want to hear a song fleshed out beyond the studio version is a boring music fan.

Sturgill’s shows really do have jam band energy despite not being a jam band. The closest comparison I can think of is Ween, and I mean that in the highest regards.

Ween is a great, if a bit obscure, comparison. If I wanted to hear a band perform directly from the album, well I’d stay home and listen to it. When people come back from a show saying, “They sound just like the album!”, I don’t find that as a compliment. Different strokes for different folks I guess.

I think it depends on the band. It works for sturgill, but I don't want to go to a Weezer show, for example, and hear a 15 minute version of Buddy Holly.

Never see Steely Dan then, not that is an option after Walter's passing.

Bulls on Parade. And a verse of White Wedding earlier in the show.

Denver on 9/23. Jupiters Faerie teases “The Way It Is” by Bruce Hornsby. Bruce was playing in Boulder the following night.

The Pittsburgh show teased SpongeBob weird pants, which they played a little the last tour.

I heard Everyday People in Philly and was really hoping for it.
