what should i do?

Hello hello,

So m an international student (from third country) living in Switzerland since 6 years. 3 months ago, I started looking for a job and had an interview with an employer. the interview went well and I was contacted 2 weeks ago for a final on-site interview. Yesterday I received an offer. The thing is that 2 months ago, I became disabled because of an intense reactive tinnitus / hyperacusis I developed that keeps me pretty much bedbound. What should I do ? should I talk to this with the employer ? should I simply reffuse the offer meaning i would have to leave switzerland (which i cannot even take the plane because of how awful my ears hurt). I’m completely lost

Talk to https://www.inclusion-handicap.ch/de/ or a similar association asap. DO NOT TELL your potential employer before you talk to them.

I’d def talk to someone before deciding anything. Inclusion Handicap is a good start, and check if your uni has free legal advice, a lot of them do. Thing is if you cant actually start the job you might have to tell them anyway, so better know your rights first.

Maybe just ask if they can push the start date a few months for health reasons? No need to go into details. Worst case they say no.

best is to tell, share all things and see where it gets.

The offer rescinded is what it gets.

Imagine trying to hire someone and them going "by the way, I'm now disabled and bed bound, see ya Monday?"

They have probation period like 3 months to fire him anyway?

Why would they even bother?

Take the chance that OP goes from disabled and bedridden to regular employee in 3 months?

It sucks for OP and I'm sorry that they are going through that, but if they explain the situation I would not expect that offer to stay or to pass probation if they keep the offer to avoid some HR nightmare
