How To's, Tutorials, Demos Made a Juno Chorus for the Minilogue XD

Thumbnail

Was playing around with the Korg SDK creating a Juno replica chorus based off the architecture schematics available and using real juno recordings from a studio visit to calculate the rate and depth of the chorus.

The chorus has 3 modes selectable with the time knob including:
- CHORUS I
- CHORUS II
- CHORUS I + II

The depth controls the chorus amount

The effect also has a subtle noise floor similar to the imperfections of the juno and additionally has a touch of saturation to give it a bit of warmth and crunch to the chorus effect

How accurate do you feel it is?

Beginner Questions Is Native instrument m32 any good?

I'm about to buy some midi keyboard now, the choice is between everyone loved akai mpk mini 3, arturia and native instruments m32. A typical options, the last one looks just soooo good to me BUT it's a bit huge and won't fit in my backpack anyway + I don't know how the keyboard feels are keys here closer to arturia or akai? So guys is m32 worth it or should I go with akai(probably)?

Discussion Who Cares If Something Is Vibe Coded?

• Upvotes

I'm not a tech guy and I don't know how to do computer programming. I've seen it on other people's screens and it looks like a mix of gobbldigook and runes and I could not and do not understand how it works at all. Synthesizers as a whole I cannot explain how they work. Honestly I'm not sure how an electric guitar works outside of the broad strokes of pickups but thats just a word, I don't really understand it. Thats all to say, if a synth is vibe coded whatever that means or coded by a regular method its all just backround magic that makes the sounds work to me.

Edit: I have come to understand that AI being a big part of vibe coding is the problem. Fair.

I love playing these synths through the heavy handed compression on the sp-404, it really glues everything together

Just picked up a boom and camera and learning to record sessions for idea capture. This was just a low effort improv ambient session. Everything was thrown together for this session except the Korg SP choir patch and I just do this for fun. Go easy on me. Thanks for looking.

I am by no means anything more then a strange tinker-er with music/things... ordered this last month before all the firmware exploded onto the internet. So far, it's fun, small and portable too.

Well, I'm planning to replace the screen on my Yamaha DX7II-FD with a new OLED; My question is whether the Winstar WEH004002 works as well as the Orplex DMC40267 that came with it from the factory.

Beginner Questions Best mackie mixer for gain distortion

I want to get into dawless hardcore, and I’m looking for the best Mackie mixer for this kindof setupnowadays. I’m into that gritty sound of older 8-bit and 16-bit bit depth, so I’mwondering if older Mackiemixers are a good choice or if newer ones can do the job just aswell. Is there still a reason to go for a vintageMackie, or are the newer models just asgood?

Performances, Jams Got selected as one of 5 artists for a modular live set at ADE! Would love your support 🖤

Hey everyone! :)
I’m a Brazilian techno producer based in Amsterdam, and I’ve recently been selected as one of 5 artists for the opportunity to perform a live modular set at Amsterdam Dance Event (ADE) this year!
The final selection is being decided through a community vote on SoundCloud, so I thought I’d share it here with fellow synth and modular enthusiasts!
If you enjoy my sound and would like to support a fellow modular nerd, I’d really appreciate a quick like on the set, as each like counts as a vote! 🖤

Discussion UDO Super 6 vs DMNO

For those who have played both or have a good understanding of both synths, how do they compare? I have a Super 6 but I've considered trading it out for a DMNO. I like the Super 6 but the layout, screen, and experimental nature of the DMNO are pretty appealing. Curious to hear what others think.

Synth ID / How was this made? What is this synth/sampler?

From one of Nil's incredible performances. What is this? It seems to have Cellos, bass, vocals all coming out of it? Is it just a midi controller in a nice stand going off to a PC or something more? https://youtu.be/HPPzQgTaLbo?si=1DXKK2B5xOdiKSWC&t=1981

Discussion Monosynth semi-modular love? Or superior patch memory?

I have a problem. The Moog grandmother was my first synth. I love it, and I can’t imagine parting with it, but I also feel like I don’t use it enough because there is no patch memory. But the spring reverb, those tasty oscillators, the drive, the sync, and of course the filter, are all awesome.

For context, I make indie music, I record all my instruments live, one at a time. I USUALLY don’t sequence anything, and these days I don’t do the DAWless jam thing (though it’s worth noting that I stupidly don’t use a computer/DAW for music at all right now).

So there are a few different directions to go:

1) find a good resource to help my brain think in terms of semi-modular patching. (In contrast to digital mod matrices, which just feel intuitive for whatever reason). Learn to love the process and try to get really fast at making what I want. Typically if I sit down to sound design, it’s only on a synth with patch memory, because my music time is limited. I’m very comfortable with the grandmother as it is routed out of the box, but I still feel like an idiot when I get the patch cables out.

2) keep the grandmother as a specialist, buy a mono like a bass station or messenger with patch memory as a work horse.

3) stop kidding myself, sell the grandmother, cry, and buy a sub 37 and cry again at the cost.

4) do I even need a dedicated mono? I feel like there’s a ton of character to be lost, but I do use my poly’s as monos quite a bit.

Any suggestions?

Discussion How do you guys record synths into your audio interface?

Hey everyone!
How do you usually record your synths directly into an audio interface? I’m talking about raw, unprocessed line recordings that you’ll process later in a DAW. What input levels do you typically aim for?
Also, how do you deal with the fact that different synths can have wildly different output levels?
I recently bought a Behringer UMC404HD, and I’m still trying to figure out the best way to record into it while minimizing noise and avoiding input clipping.
The PAD switches seem to help, but I’ve seen a few reviews suggesting that the PAD implementation on this particular interface isn’t great.

Upd: Thanks for all the replies, guys! Really cool to see how everyone does things differently!
