IB Courses question

Hey guys, I did IB and got a 33 for the final. What programs can I apply to with this? 😭😭😭

My subjects:

Physics HL: 5
Business HL: 6
Economics HL: 5
Maths AA SL: 6
English Lang and Lit SL: 5
Swedish AB Initio: 4

Please help, my main interests are: business, economics, computer science, etc. Even if they don't align with my interests, could you suggest any programs I can apply to?

Assuming you are non-EU, you can apply to most courses (band 2 and band 3). Here is more info: https://www.tcd.ie/study/prospectus/Undergraduate-Admission-Guide-Non-EU.pdf

I’m EU does that change anything?

It does, and gets more complicated. You will apply through the CAO like Irish students, and choose a maximum of ten courses in Ireland to apply to, ranking them in order of preference (NOT in order of where you think you can get in). CAO will convert your IB results to points like the Irish students get, and you get the highest offer on your list that you qualify for AND have the points for. Points for each course change every year depending on popularity. First round of results is at the very end of August so you will only have a short time to move over.

Alright, thanks for helping. One small question: when I apply as an EU IB student, would I need to submit my DP1/DP2 report cards at any stage, or are the official IB results I get in July sufficient? I will make sure my coordinator shares it with the CAO.

If I am doing this right, you'd have about 450 points https://www2.cao.ie/downloads/documents/2025/Guidelines-EU-EFTA-UK-2025.pdf/ ).
Looking at this year's points ( https://www.tcd.ie/study/assets/pdfs/2026-cao-minimum-entry-points-round-final.pdf ) there are no undergraduate courses involving Computer Science, Business, or Economics that work with that. Additionally, for comp sci you need a higher level Math grade and yours is lower level.

Trinity is a great university, but you don't want to be stuck in a course you hate for 4 years. If Dublin is your main focus, you might look at DCU or TUD as university with lower points. If Trinity is the be all and end all, Business Studies and Russian is a little higher than your points but may drop.

TR039 Computer Science, Linguistics and a Language was below 400 this year

Yes but computer science requires Higher Level Maths which Op does not have.

What course do you think I can do can you help? If any course requirement matches with mine I’m very bad at research if you could help.

You would have qualified for TR039 Computer Science, Linguistics and a Language this year.

If you want to go to university, you need to get better at doing research

Nearly everything at Trinity is a BA. Same as at Oxford and Cambridge. It's a historical designation. It doesn't reflect the content of the course. As another poster said, you'd need HL Maths in your IB to qualify.

this is kind of off topic but why does it seem everyone doing the IB wants to go to Trinity, even OP who got 33?

Trinity would need much higher than 33 for everything except the most unpopular courses where the points requirement is below about 453 points. Try History of Art and Architecture, joint courses involving Irish & Spanish or French, Italian & Russian.

Or more sensibly pick a less competitive university and study something you actually want to study.
