Question about transferring school

Hello everyone,

I am currently serving on active duty in the military and plan to transition out to become a full-time college student. I am currently enrolled at University of Maryland Global Campus (UMGC) as an accounting major. I am wondering what target GPA and how many completed courses/credit hours I should have on my record to maximize my chances of getting accepted into TCU, or if better what should I do right now to maximize my chance of getting accepted.

Hey there! First off, thank you for your service :) There are quite a number of veterans at TCU, and the general advice for any transfer goes: do your best, keep your grades up, and demonstrate interest. Accounting is in the Neeley School of Business, so it's considered a bit more rigorous to get in, but I'm not sure how that applies to transfers. In terms of maximizing acceptance, it's always good to demonstrate interest, and I think in this post your doing that. If I were you, I'd send a polite email to your admission counselor and/or Veteran's Admissions following the outline of this post. You can search for your counselor here. And in case you haven't seen these, here are some more general informational links:

In terms of Accounting, try to take courses that you think would transfer to the required courses, which you can find here. I hope this could maybe be of some use. Go Frogs 🐸

Super helpful info. I would reach out to April from the admission office. They’re all nice but she leads that department and is super helpful.
