We were supposed to take your phone.

Had to do stupid ass training videos today. Been working there since they opened the place. NOW i gotta do the training videos (that I already did and don’t need)?

“Oh, yeah you can do them on your phone, but you’re not allowed to have your phone at work”

BITCH YOU AIN’T TAKING MY PHONE. I’m old enough to be your dad, and not one of those “constantly stuck on phone” people. Fuck those training videos. All about company culture, goals, etc. My goal is to make and sell food.

God damn. Ya want food or not? Might get a dead old phone as a decoy. Or might just tell them to stick themselves in the cambro of spiciness that I made from the recipe that was on my phone.

I don’t think people stuck on their phone is really an age thing, all the boomers I work with are glued to theirs constantly.

It's a human thing now. My mum and daughter are as bad as each other.

This. I left a job partly due to the boss (60+ year old with the worst addiction to a phone I've ever seen in another human, regardless of age) decided to implement a "phone box" phone goes in at start of shift and doesn't come out till the end.

I worked there for over a decade, phone only comes out on smoke breaks, and I was expected to put mine in there too. "I'm a 44 year old man, i have discipline with my phone, unlike you" was my response to him.

When i was working fast food, management pulled us off the line during off-times and covered our spot while we were in the back office using the office computer to do the training, rotated the whole crew through one after another. Same thing for "climate surveys"

Most places you have to do the safety type videos every year

True, but they have computers or at least a tablet. Or if you have to use your own phone, they don’t bring up “why is your grown ass carrying a phone”?

At my second job we see the same safety video every year. There is no test. I have seen and heard managers advising to start it and walk away.

That is crazy.

We watched the same harassment video so many times, my coworkers and I would recite the lines during the video.

One of the videos is an active shooter video. Hide, flee, or fight. Those are the options. At one point during fight they have 4 or 5 people in an office ready to fight back. One person grabs a wooden ruler. Another grabs a stapler. Not sure how good that would do them.

Did. Got interviews lined up all this week. Kinda nervous, but super excited. Still have some money saved, still getting two more paychecks, will actually drug test (that’s fine, I can lay off the weed for a bit and it keeps the lazy potheads and tweakers out), and gotta do the fancy stuff after passing through TSA every day (airport obviously). Set menu, set schedule, set pay. Yeaaaah.

*Looks up from phone* Oh, we still doing this? No phone while at work? Yeah, right... that's going to happen. I have to keep mine on me at all times, doctor's orders.

Have you considered the uno reverse, maybe taking their phone during work hours? Or maybe since you're their new dad you can put them in timeout until they give you your phone back?

Not gonna take their phone, but definitely considering telling to sit on their hands until they behave.

You ever see something that makes you rage so much you have to make yourself calm down? Yeah, this. My response was likely to catch me another ban.

Bottom line is you dont pay my phone bill so you dont make me do training on it, especially in my own time when you aren't paying me

Basically everything I need is on my phone (or I’ll just go grab a toast). They even put up a plastic shoe holder thing on the office door for phones like they do in schools now.

It’s becoming daycare. Ya ain’t taking my phone, that shit was $1200, get your own phone. And stop hiring irresponsible people.

You need to move on bro, dont even give them notice just stuff it into their hands along with a list of complaints. Fuck the notice period, thats a courtesy to allow them to find more staff

Just did. No paperwork required, just feet. They can have their chaos and dirty plates. Food is still good though, but we’ll see how long that lasts.
