Discussion What Are Songs You Forget About?
The title is self-explanatory. What are songs that you forget about for whatever reason?

Kinda a slightly different answer but I never have any clue what album Suburban Legends is from, I also forget abotu Renegade
38
u/Sampleswift evermore 2d ago
Suburban Legends is from 1989 Taylor's Version. Agree about Renegade.
I also forget that "Tied Together With A Smile" exists as well. Self-Titled tends to get lost in the shuffle other than the singles.

u/othersideofthedoor21 Speak Now 2d ago
i also forgot about tied together with a smile! itās such a good song ugh, i cried to that song in high school (it was a rough time š) i still love it every time i listen to it but yeah i keep forgetting about it

u/BitterGodHaha 1d ago
OMG i used to listen to this so much in school and then completely forgot about it for more than a decade, until i read this comment

u/falldiewakefly Dark Blue Tennessee (Taylor's Version) (From The Vault) 2d ago
Every time I get bored and do one of those "name every Taylor Swift song" quizzes, I consistently forget about the existence of Bye Bye Baby, Wildest Dreams, My Boy Only Breaks His Favorite Toys, and Cancelled!. These are all songs I like, so I have no idea what the mental block is.

u/User51515151515196 1d ago
Haha I do those quizzes too - mine that I always forget are:
- We Were Happy
- High Infidelity
- The Very First Night

u/Agitated-Cup-7109 2d ago
I did one and the two i missed from lover were you need to calm down (how?) and soon you'll get better (my favorite off lover)

u/caffeinequeen24601 heart-stopping waves of hurt 1d ago
For me itās always the lesser known songs from Fearless. Iāll sing along when they come on but I can never list them off the top of my head

Ironically, I bet you think about me. And then it will randomly pop into my head and I remember what a good song it is (like just now)

8
u/Sawa-on-river-bank 1d ago
It's one of my favourites š
9
u/dreamglowkosmos 1d ago
same Ā š i hate it when people downplay the song because it's genuinely so beautiful. i'd honestly love for her to speak about this song in specific, like just to see how the production was and what was going through her head because i've never even seen her mention the song lol
5
u/Sawa-on-river-bank 1d ago
RIGHT, it's so sweet and I love the simple and charming storytelling š
Church bells ring, carry me home Rice on the ground looks like snow Call my bluff, call you "babe" Have my back, yeah, everyday
Like it's such a sweet love story š„¹

u/aggravatinglecture21 17h ago
Same! It is such a beautiful song; I can't imagine my musical world without it. I hate that it is so slept on or disregarded. It is also so special to me cause I am from Toronto, and the song samples music from a Toronto music school, and I believe a portion of the earnings from the song are donated to the music program.

Question...? I literally forget that song even exists most of the time

Untouchable & Come in with the Rain.
I never got into them as a teen when they came out and they have fallen into complete irrelevance for me.
Whenever I have her on shuffle I get genuinely confused if they come in for a few seconds lol

Well, this might be my answer too. Was reading through the comments and this is the only one I actually went.... "oh yeah! That exists!"
1
u/everfixedmark_1924 1d ago
Oh yeah, but that's a good one, thanks for the reminder cause I'm gonna put it on my Taylor playlist rn!

u/Embarrassed-Ear4863 3h ago
It took me way too long to discover this song and now itās part of my core rotation!

u/Actual_Landscape3052 2d ago
Better Man and Babe, until she re-recorded them I never associated them with her and now I just prefer her versions

u/Brilliant_Cycle_2812 2d ago
most of debut, sorry. Breathe, Change, Untouchable, girl at home
5
u/Revolutionary-Bell74 Itās okay, life is a tough crowd 1d ago
Breathe is probably my most played TS song
2
u/Brilliant_Cycle_2812 1d ago
I wasnt' a fan until Lover era so those early albums get lost on me. But people love Breathe; I should probably go back and give it a chance

Some songs from the deluxe or vaults of Fearless or Speak Now. But mostly betty. I always forget about betty š
4
u/Agitated-Cup-7109 2d ago
A lot of vaults, since I usually listen to full albums and I prefer the original versions. Especially fearless, any song besides Mr perfectly fine barely exists to me

Probably most of them at some point, I tend to vibe listen and she has over 250 of them lol. But I always come back around!
2
u/No-Pea-7195 2d ago
same, i always forget about the lakes until it comes on and then wonder why i donāt listen to it constantly lol
1
u/aromaticleo 1d ago
I forget about the lakes on purpose because while it sounds nice, the larping of "your favorite english teacher" is sending me and I can't take any of her "I hate being rich and famous" songs seriously
2
u/heartstringcheese 1d ago
Honestly some of the songs later into the Red album. I always forget about The Last Time.

u/vanillabeanclouds The Tortured Poets Department 1d ago
Mr perfectly fine. I never listen to it until it pops up and Iām like, āwow this song is good!ā

u/movingabroad2024 1d ago
Recently listened to Dear John again⦠itās one of my top songs from Speak now and I think itās so underrated but I also tend to forget it š

Starlight
Like ⦠99% of Red.

u/aromaticleo 1d ago
fr there's so many. I forget about I bet you still think about me, which is ironic because at no point was I ever thinking about that song
1
u/Chickentendies94 20h ago
Starlight hits so hard. And state of grace leads the album off. Iām such a Red Stan
1
u/vergessenerengel your string of lights is still bright to me 13h ago
I literally never listen to Red on its own, just when songs come on shuffle. But you know what? I will listen to Red now during my run.

I mean there's probably some others because she has so many songs on so any albums, but I know for sure I forget about songs she's featured on by other artist, and to a lesser extent, her soundtrack songs.

You could bring me any track on Fearless or Red that arenāt tracks 1-5 and I wouldnāt be able to tell you if the track is from Fearless or Red. I have no idea how do they even sound.
Iāve never heard āI Donāt Wanna Live Foreverā neither. Only from TikTok snippets
In general, all of her non-album tracks I have no idea about except for āCarolinaā and āI Knew It, I Knew Youā

āItās nice to have a friendā not a bad song imo but definitely one I forget. I recognize it immediately when it plays only bc it DOES have a memorable intro upon hearing it but I forget it as an option when giving suggestions for songs and such
