Can't we make a rule or something about this shit. It is getting annoying. Or make a monthly let's discuss this shit. I just wanna have fun here with my D-ciples and not be bothered with this discussion for the gazillionth time.

SECOND OF ALL. IF JACK WOULD HAVE SUPPORTED THIS SHIT MAGA WOULD GO AFTER EVERY FUCKING D FAN IN THE UNIVERSE, THE SAFETY OF THE BAND AND EVERYONE INVOLVED (INCLUDING US) WOULD BE AT STAKE, MOVIES THAT PUT BREAD ON THE TABLE FOR MANY PEOPLE WOULD BE CANCELLED.
IT IS NOT JUST, WAAAAAA, JACK BLACK WANTED TO DO CARTOON VOICES, WAAAAA I'M A SAD LITTLE BOT (WHICH YOU ARE). IT IS A LOT BIGGER.

People love drama even in their favourite bands
Every band has a thing that casual fans will see as "the incident" and longer term fans know the truth behind. I'd say it'll blow over eventually but in reality I think the D was kinda over anyway. Kyle needs it more than Jack does (and even then he probably has enough money and has his side projects The Kyle Gass band to keep him going)
They haven't put out an album in a long time and all their releases are either rock covers for charity or under 2 mins songs....I love this band more than anything but that tour could've been the last one they did anyway and now they're in this weird limbo of not wanting to do any more but not wanting to announce an end to the band in case the right wing press declare a victory over it.
The main thing is they're still friends. People have been attacking Hollywood Jack for his indie credentials going right out the door and seeing Kyle as the true authentic heart of the band since the first album, nothing has really changed on that front.
Maybe they'll do a cover again. Maybe it won't be the end, but I can't see another album so let's just quit focusing on this one incident and start discussing the good parts again.

Yeah, Hollywood Jack Hollywooded, and Rage Kage Raged. I do think they were working on a new album, and they hit the 6 year cycle in the break up year. I still think the D will lay out some gems but time will tell. Think they will do shows again. But, I am hopefull dude.

This ain't just "drama", it's jack black selling out against the ideals he was apparently LARPing with his entire musical career. There is no forgiving this. The D can no longer lampoon selling out because JB sold out. It'll be as musically satisfying as eating week old crab legs.

Except he didnt. The insurers cancelled the tour and they're still friends behind the scenes
It amazes me how so called "true d fans" just accept the narrative of the right wing media of the time and don't delve any deeper.
But as I said, Jack being the sellout and kyle being authentic has been the narrative thread through the d through its entire existence, this is nothing new

No, but his media team did.
But according to Kyle, he was across the whole thing and they were talking privately about it and agreeing to it too
I just don't know what it gets you being mad at someone who had to protect his livelyhood. Kyle isn't mad. They're still friends, what does it matter?

This is correct. They were getting cancelled for "insurance" reasons before Jack's publicity team made any kind of statement.

It aint about that one show man. Apart from the fact that Trump fanatics are everywhere and a group could show up to the stadium, continueing with that much heat is just dangerous and could create more crap and hate.
Once again, I do really hate it for you. I had my first D show when I was 17 and it was amazing. And I assume you live in New Zealand? Which is also just far away as fuck and does not help.

fuck off. Jack lampooned doing this shit for the entirety of Tenacious D and they goes around and sells out. It literally spoils those songs of the past where they're making fun of it.
I really don't see jack black coming out of this forgiven by the D fans. If you're aware of the concept of "Kill the Author", that's literally what I have to do to continue enjoying the D. Kage, you have my undying love and respect. Jables is dead.

Y'all ain't a D fan if you can let selling out slide. Do you, like, mindlessly listen to the notes and like an automaton responding to a stimuli clap your hands like one of those cymbal monkeys?
Like 10% of their jokes are making fun of bands that do this. It's a feature on every album, and it's got the same feel as getting farted on when doing a rim job. It's just wrong.
