Third time my tenkara setup out fished my spinning rig

Post image

I threw the kitchen sink at them with my spinning reel today. Every Rapala, Rooster Tail, Senko, and jig I had. Nothing!
Meanwhile, the first and last cast with the tenkara rod produced three smallies in less than 10 minutes. Sometimes, keeping it simple is the way to go!

I just had a similiar experience. Not using a tenkara necessarily, but eventually just switching to flies on my spinning rod.

Fish wanted nothing, not even live worms. But the second I put flies out there I got a bite.

In the right conditions it is the best way to fish, IMO.
But it obviously has its limitations.
