Well, it happens

2026 MYLR, less than 6 months old. I was waiting on an interstate off-ramp. Other driver claimed hydroplaning, and admitted fault, which was refreshing. Cop said he loves Teslas because they resolve so many cases, before I showed him the video.

hydroplane my ass. They were texting and driving. There's no standing water. Their tires would have to be bald and they'd have already crashed much earlier on their drive.

Against someone who's freely admitted their mistake caused the crash?

Don't get me wrong, if you actually are injured then yes, you definitely should be compensated. But just going after someone because you might legally have the ability to screw them over for your own personal gain?
Nah, that's fucked up.

Edit: u/Keokuk37 replied, and then instantly blocked me so I couldn't respond. I think that tells you all you need to know about this person's mentality. Don't follow their advice. Don't be a Karen.

Admitted fault means nothing. OP still has to fight the other driver's insurance.

The guy at fault admitted about as much as you'd expect him to. He admitted fault, but didn't admit to careless driving by saying he was on his phone or reaching in the backseat. I'd say that's good enough for me.

Maybe don’t make easily avoidable mistakes like this.

Runs up steps to courthouse, puts on neck brace, and sits in wheelchair.

Would future FSD be able to drive away avoiding getting hit from behind in your case?

Automakers really need to make cameras around cars mandatory to solve crash or incidents like this. It makes or helps law enforcement and insurance companies.

Other driver admitted fault which is right. They were in the same lane with their right blinker on from the start of the video, so likely reckless driving rather than their claimed unlucky “hydroplaning” when there’s no standing water.

Someone commented that it’s enough they admitted they caused the accident and not to lawyer up. Imagine if this was just another in a string of dangerous driving, if OP was significantly hurt, if the next victim isn’t so lucky. Quite important to determine if it’s just unlucky or if the other driver is a danger to others on the road.

Those cars come standard with AEB behind the rear-view mirror and work in normal rain. It should have kicked in because it didn’t look like they were braking at all. Maybe foot off the pedal, slowing down. Idk, but they were distracted and had/or the AEB system turned off. I hate this for you OP, either way. 😪
