Scraped my rear bumper/quarter panel — what am I looking at cost-wise to fix this?

Hey all — scraped the rear driver-side bumper and quarter panel on my Model 3 (pics attached). Looks like mostly paint scuffs and scratches on the bumper cover, with some marks along the quarter panel edge. No cracks in the bumper that I can see, and the sensors seem fine.
For those who've had similar damage fixed: what did it run you, and did you go through a Tesla-approved body shop or an independent shop? I'm in the Atlanta area if anyone has local shop recommendations.
Trying to figure out if this is a bumper refinish/blend job or something bigger. Thanks!

Lady turned in front of me from a parking lot while I was on the main roadway. Will have to leave car as I need to go back to work on Wednesday since this happened in another state. It’s a 2026 Tesla Model 3 Premium RWD. Was only able to drive it slowly in the parking lot the lady came out from since the wheel well was scraping the tire and I heard something dragging on the concrete. The nearest Tesla collision center from where the accident happened is almost 200 miles away. I already placed a claim through my insurance but need to call local body shops and adjuster to see what can be done as I want my car fixed if it doesn’t get totaled. How much will it cost to repair it?

Tesla Model 3 cracked rear bumper – has anyone used bumper glue for repairs?

Post image

Hi everyone,

I've got a 2026 Tesla Model 3 in Stealth Grey with some damage to the rear bumper following a very low-speed reversing incident.

There's a crack/split in the bumper, some scuffing and a slight gap around the rear light where the bumper doesn't appear to sit quite right.

I've been getting opinions from different body shops, and some have said I'll need a completely new bumper.

However, a local bodywork specialist came out and inspected the car in person. He said he could repair the damage using something he called "bumper glue" and was confident it would be fine. He also mentioned that some polishing might be needed due to UV exposure.

The vehicle is leased, so I'm conscious of getting the work done properly and avoiding any issues when returning it.

Has anyone heard of or used bumper glue for repairing cracked plastic bumpers? Is it a reliable long-term solution, or is there a risk of the crack reappearing?

If you were in my position, would you go ahead with the bumper glue repair or just get a brand-new bumper fitted?

I'd also be interested to hear from anyone who's had similar damage repaired on a Tesla Model 3 rather than replacing the entire bumper.

I'm not necessarily looking for the cheapest solution. I just want the repair to last and the car to look as good as it did before the damage.

Any advice or experiences would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Do you think this is a total loss…?

2026 Tesla Model Y RWD with 54,000 miles.

Doesn’t appear to be any structural damage nor any battery or undercarriage damage…just a long scrape down the entire side.

Another way of asking would be to ask do you think these repairs will exceed $22k…my thought is that $22k would be the threshold in which the insurance company would total it.

I bought this 17k and got a 18k estimate

Post image

I just got an estimate from tesla collision center. 18k is over the price of this car loll

I tried to sell this one to Carbrain, Copart Direct and Peddle. A rough estimate from them is 4k, 3k, and 4k each.

Trunk is perfectly open and closed and driving is pertfly fine. Does it reasonable estimate?

Should I just sell it or repair it in LA?
Is it worth to find third party center? Or should I go to Carmax or Carvana?

It’s my first time to get a car accident and idk what to do .. only thing coming up my mind is just I should have included my car coverage..

Grocery store damage, help!

I came out of Sam's club and it looks like someone hit the side of my car with one of those big bulk carts. There's a scratch down to the metal 😡 I know I will need a pro for this.

My smaller concern in the molding is sagging. Twp clips look broken off. Can anyone give me advice on how to fix this? I'm not a dumb girl, but I'm not a mechanic either. Should I just replace the whole piece? Is it possible to replace the clips or is it even worth it? I don't ever want to be cheap with my cars. I also don't want to buy cheap parts either. I looked on ebay but then started to panic about possibly buying something that was aftermarket.

Hit in run in my work parking lot on one model 3 and this on my other in the same month. I just can't. I would never damage someone's vehicle and just leave. So disgusting

Anyway, does anyone have advice on what to do here and where I can reliably buy the necessary parts? Thanks in advance!

Small bump on passenger door

So i was charging at a supercharger and this lady next to me opened the door really strong and left a mark/bump on my passenger side door. At the time she was panicking and didnt speak english and i was also kind of shocked so i asked for cash which she gave me $150 but now i know that was a horrible idea. How much would it cost to fix this? I submitted a claim to have it fixed but my deductible is $1000

Smh, i was asleep and I woke up to knocking on the door. Driver didn't get away because they couldn't but I'm afraid her insurance won't cover anything over the minimum required policy of property damage.. It's a September 2024 Long-Range AWD Model Y, it has 20k miles on it. I'm wondering if anyone has had this experience? I can't afford a new Y and I don't want a gas car now 😭

The impact struck the curb’s rock, harming the passenger-side door and denting the rocker panel. On my 22MY, will this result in a total loss?

Tesla center trying to charge me $7k while the car drives fine..

Okay I admittedly curbed my wheel.. it was in a huge rain storm and I took a bad turn..

Car started telling me that my tire tread was low, and I needed to bring it in for alignment.. said car was able to drive but service was recommended.. i’ve driven it a few hundred miles since.. car drives straight, no grinding noises nothing noticeable when driving..

I took it to costco first to rotate the tires, they said my rims were aesthetically bad but were easily fine to drive, still plenty of tread left in the tires (130k miles i’ve changed the tires twice)

Took it to tesla and they recommended a checkup first.. what was supposed to be a $300 bill turned into 7k… said my subframe was misaligned 1-2°’s and when I check the estimate its calling for new wheels, new tires… like why arent they just fixing the misaligned frame??

They tried to do this to me last year I took it in because my warranty was expiring soon and they tried to hit me with “the suspension has a tiny bit of give.. lets replace that” and “the brakes are starting to build some rust, lets replace those” and wanted to charge me $5k to fix everything.. that was a year ago and i’ve had zero issues with the car

I am thinking about taking the car to an approved body shop and getting another opinion.. do y’all think tesla is just upselling the shit out of me here??

Cracked Bumper - Tesla Model 3

Looking for some advice from anyone familiar with Tesla body repairs, particularly in the UK.

I've got the rear bumper damage shown in the attached photos on a 2026 Model 3.

I've contacted several local body shops and had surprisingly mixed responses. A couple have said the existing bumper looks repairable and would need removing/refitting to sort the fitment.

However, quite a few body shops I've contacted have said they won't work on Teslas at all, despite doing accident/body repairs on other vehicles. One mentioned parts availability and specialist equipment as the reason.

So I've got two questions really:

1. Looking purely at the photos, what would you expect to need doing? Would you expect the bumper cover to be repaired, plastic welded and repainted, or replaced? Is there anything in the photos that would make you want the impact bar/brackets/mountings behind the bumper checked?

2. Why do so many independent body shops seem reluctant to touch Teslas? Is there genuinely something particularly specialist about removing/repairing a Model 3 rear bumper, or is it more that some garages don't want the hassle of Tesla parts/procedures?

It's a lease car and basically new, so I'm looking for a proper repair rather than a quick cosmetic fix.

Interested to hear from Tesla owners or anyone who works in body repair and has dealt with these before. Cheers.

Help me find a liftgate

Hi all, got rear ended.

With all my past vehicles I’ve been able to “Pick a Part”. With this Tesla it’s not so easy. Can’t find them in local junk yards.

I want to find a liftgate for my 23 MYP in white. There has to be a good amount out there with front end damage and a mint rear end I can get one off.

Any ideas?

Chicago area.

Need Advice On Damage to 21 Model 3 SR+

Hey Everyone,

Been lurking here for awhile and finally need some advice. So I f'd up and didn't realize there was a random cement block for a missing tree in the center of parking lot aisles at a shopping center near home while pulling forward and to the right to exit. Clipped the rear portion of the car thinking I curbed the rim.

For anyone with knowledge on this, how bad would you consider this damage? I do have full coverage insurance with a $250 deductible and I also sent some photos to a Tesla approved Independent body shop and I'm waiting on feedback.

Initially the body shop said it's an easy fix but I read that indy shops aren't allowed to cut or massage out this area due to how close it is to the battery packs and it being part of the reinforcement of the unibody frame. I asked them to verify if Tesla requires a shop like them to do more than just cutting portions out and replacing or bending metal.

I also know that if I take it directly to a Tesla Shop, they will likely be allowed to do what the Indy shop might be recommending upfront.

My dilemma is whether I want to keep the car or not. I'll probably need to take the hit to my insurance anyway so was wondering if this might warrant higher costs of repair.

Has anyone had similar damage or has experienced this from the body shop end and have seen high costs for repair?

The car is probably worth maybe $13k and has around 92k miles.

I know that they would still need to do a tear down to look for internal damage. So far, no trouble codes or leaks I could see.

Thanks

Salvage inspection result

I bought a Tesla Model Y that had previously suffered rear suspension damage. The seller said it had been professionally repaired, so I purchased the car. After about a month, Tesla blocked Supercharging and cancelled the vehicle’s warranty. Tesla advised me that the car needs to pass a salvage inspection. My concern is whether passing this inspection will restore the car to normal status, including Supercharging and warranty coverage.

Go to tesla or 3rd party?

No idea how this happened, nothing from sentry. Recently hit a pot hole causing a flat but idk how the hell that would cause this dent.

I imagine this is not cheap to fix at tesla, would it be better to go 3rd party.
