TRT help Backfilling testosterone
Is there any issues with backfilling testosterone?
I use 23g to pull out and use a 31g needle subq to inject.
Is there any downsides to this like testosterone becoming worse quality during that movement in between syringes or just anything to look out for?
Thanks

What's the pro or reasoning of this method vs just using a luer lock?
I've never actually backfilled, but when I use luer locks, which is only when I'm switching between vials, I definitely use them in the same way - smaller injection vs draw needle.

The insulin syringes are cheaper and work just as good. If you want to keep them sharp, or are mixing compounds, you simply backfill. Also for backfilling multiple injections at once to they are ready for convenience.
I do it for mixing oils.

I was similarly confused when I first heard about it, I'm unsure if it's what OP is doing but it makes more sense when backfilling a week or two of daily pins, you can share the dead space from one luer lock across all the injections and have the speed of a large needle. For anything infrequent or doing it for every pin is wasteful and just a load of faff.

Yeah maybe I'm missing the point too. Idk. Legit curious and want to understand though.
I don't prefill and I'm slightly against the idea, so maybe that's it?

V2 insulin pen. Transfer 3ml from vial to pen. Use replaceable 29g pen needles for injection.

Does the oil not interact with the stopper in the cartridge

I haven’t had any issues with that so far.

Isn't the oil too thick for it to be in a v2 insulin pen? That'd be ideal for me tbh

I use a 29g 5/8” in my delts. It does push out slower than water-based peptides, but it works. For a 30unit injection, there is a point about halfway through when you have to pause because of the pressure buildup.

Im getting a still air box to backfill w peace of mind. A laminar flow hood is out of the question atm, but could be diy'ed in the future. Until then the box can suffice since thats what mushroom growers use and their required level of sterility is very high. I wanna backfill, and just use one pin to draw and then divvy out into many insulin syringes for a weeks worth of preloading at a time.
Cause when i tried to switch out needles w the luer lock it was difficult and squeezed the syringe which pushed out oil and it was just retarded an the opposite of precise in method or measurment. Im a luer lock noob obviously tho... 1ml pin w a 23g or 25g to divvy out oil into insilin syringes i imagine will give much better control over precision dosing, especially if your doing a mix

Honestly I’m not sure why people are afraid of using the same needle to draw and pin? It really doesn’t dull it that much. I use 29g and have never had any issues

I have never had an issue either. I use the same 5/8 27g needle for pulling and pinning in my pecs lol

Not one medical professional on the planet has ever "backfilled" a syringe. Why? Because it is not sterile. Yeah, people do it at home. But that doesn't make it a good idea. People do all sorts of dumb shit. It only takes getting sepsis one time to die. But, whatever peeps, it's your body.

The syringe loses sterility when you open it. Either use a luer lock or just use fill and pin with 31g insulin syringe.

Why does everyone swear by luer locks? Luer slips would be much easier to switch needle sizes between without squeezing the syringe. Do yall put the needle on just before the "lock" portion so its easy to take off and switch to smaller needle? Luer locks were developed for higher pressure draws i read on ai, but a vial is at or near ambient pressure, so a luer slip should suffice no? I dont understand why everyone wants to lock on a temp needle that needs to get changed out in 10 seconds...

no downside- lots of guys do this - no degradation whatsoever- just preference for how u want to go about ur injection
