Even protestors are sick of people attacking first responders. Paris, Place de la République.

Fuck yeah, the firefighters didn’t do anything! Not to mention it really gives the whole thing a bad look. That video/picture of the fireman being set on fire is and will continue to be used to invalidate everything that they’re saying.

Fuck yeah, the firefighters didn’t do anything!
I mean, the firefighters do even join the protests! So of course the people who riot as well will single out that cop that attacks the comrades.

One must be a special kind of scum to attack firefighters or an ambulance.

Firemen are part of the movement. Just so you know 😢

u/shade990 9h ago
What movement? What are they actually protesting?

u/goflykite- 9h ago
Honestly there are protests every weekend in my city. I have completed given trying to even figure out what they are protesting.

today the 17th there was a protest planned even before the students started their protest a month ago. It sprouted from tiktok and was planned to be the rebirth of the "yellow jacket" mouvement that used to protest aginst the rise of the gaz price and the expensive cost of life in 2018 and 2019, that was stoped because of covid. With all the anger about the lack of funding for the fireman (especially with the terrible fire who spread all across France all summer), the hospital, the school, they all united together for all of them
8
u/Colonel_Fart-Face 8h ago
Students were protesting the government ignoring education while schools fall apart from lack of funding, police started beating protesters, the fire department and union members joined the students to protect them from violent police, things escalated.
Basically reasonable protest escalated to violence by cops, again.

Like when they locked millions of "undesirables" in concentration camps and exterminated them?
Went on hysterical red scare panics?
Hung black people from trees for no reason and showed up to burn crosses?
Threatened mass annihilation with nukes?
Invaded foreign countries and used substances that are still causing severe deformities and other birth defects, decades later?
What time period are you thinking of, these alleged "good old days" ?

u/NiceGuy-Ron 9h ago
It’s more about public shamelessness has gotten worse you don’t have to bring up every evil thing that has happened in history bro
10
u/Drjuvy26 8h ago
I wonder if it has actually gotten worse or if we’re just able to see more of it compared to the past because everyone has a camera…

u/Brilliant_Amoeba_272 7h ago
People have been like this forever, it's just getting recorded and posted now
22
u/Total_Island_2977 9h ago
Nothing has changed, bro. That's the point. People are trash, always have been, always will be.
It's goofy as fuck to be bemoaning "the good old days" that never existed like some idiot navel-gazer, as if human beings haven't been doing this shit for thousands of years.

u/NiceGuy-Ron 9h ago
If you can’t see comparative transitions in cultural attitudes maybe you just don’t want to see them? Yes there’s nothing new under the sun I agree. But times change and attitudes change. Our collective consciousness change.
I don’t think there were “good old days” but there’s nothing wrong with appreciation of certain behaviors during certain time periods. Saying that history was all bad isn’t accurate. Saying it’s all good isn’t accurate.
I know that Chicago used to have booming industry, and no longer does. The Renaissance was a beautiful period for art but at the same time most people lived in what we’d call squalor comparatively. Like yeah you’re kind of right but you can’t discredit people for wanting to appreciate something good.

Yeah extreme points of view only I forgot. Everything in history is bad and racist wahh

During what period were the French not violently rioting? I wouldn’t be surprised to see this behaviour in any decade
2
u/Poster_Nutbag207 8h ago
No it hasn’t you just weren’t around before and/or are glorifying the past

u/NiceGuy-Ron 8h ago
Things change culturally man. If you think there hasn’t been social “progress” then all the social revolutions of the 60’s didn’t happen in your version of history or what?

you can protest whatever you want, but hitting medics is a hard line. nobody gives a fuck about your cause if you're beating up people trying to help.
3
u/TurtleOnLog 4h ago
The bit where some protesters start attacking another protester for doing it wrong was like a little microcosm of the French Revolution.

u/cleggusnuttimus 4h ago
Yer, for sure could easily be just some pumped up kid on adrenaline doing some dumb shit, but also could be some pumped up kid on adrenaline doing dumb shit that is getting paid/influenced to do this by the powers that want to stay in control. In doing so having a knock on effect on protests and giving the powers that be more powers to fight protests etc etc etc
Conspiracy rant over

France is kind of insane. Why not have civilized debates?
2
u/NoMan999 5h ago
These debates happened regularly for the last 10 years. Since nothing but lies happened, it escalated to reasonable protests (for about a month now), that cops and the government escalated to riots.

u/Ofeeling 7h ago
So naive !

u/granoladeer 7h ago
What I mean is: don't they vote? Why don't they vote for politicians that are aligned with their interests?
1
u/Ouroboros_RP 7h ago
People protesting are mostly, or at least were at first, people right under the voting age who have no voice in the upcoming elections.
-3
u/granoladeer 7h ago
Why don't they support lowering the voting age?
1
u/Ouroboros_RP 6h ago
Why assuming they don't? There's no individual that embodies the movement so most claims are lost in a mass of voices. The main claim is more money allocated to middle/highschools but depending on the cities the specifics are different. Though on the topic of voting age, one side wants to lower it without changing the penal age and the other side wants the opposite. *at least it was like that about a week ago, there might have been new positions since
0
u/granoladeer 6h ago
It's hard to see any claims when people are throwing rocks and looting stores.
I think lowering the voting age without changing the penal age is something that exists in other countries.
1
u/Ouroboros_RP 6h ago
Yeah, there's a lot of signs usually but the only one I see in this video is the one held by someone kicking the dumbass

Afaik French public often accuses Far Left parties of silently approving actions of these people, who act in autonomous groups of various ideologies: Radical ecologism, Antifa, Communists, Anticapitalist groups. They are not fans of being backed by anyone but Far Left does not critcise them and Melanchon is the most powerful politician from Far Left
5
u/CapitalEmployer 10h ago
Mélenchon is not part of the far left, also everybody knows this discourse of everything I don't like is a conspiracy by the far left.
Strange it reminds me something about judeo-bolcheviks, must be a coincidence.

u/r3dn0va 10h ago
If that’s a “first” responder, are there also “second” and “third” responders?
3
u/SpencoJFrog 9h ago
I can't tell if this comment is genuine or trying to make a joke with all the quotes, but a first responder is someone tasked with dropping what they're doing and responding to an accident, like a firefighter or a ambulance driver. The next person to respond might be the doctor they take them to, or the currently on- call but not "at the station currently" firefighters, but they're never going to be referred to as second responders. First responder is just the term they use to define someone on-call and prepared to respond to an emergency.

Usually firemen are not targeted during protests in France, especially regarding the fact that they protest with the rest of the population.
