Bellamy Blake rant Spoiler
I’m on my second watch after years. I loved the 100 that show is so cool and I’m at the part where pike becomes chancellor and let me just say Bellamy is the most gullible most easily manipulated/brainwashed person on any television show I’ve ever seen. In less than a day he turned on everyone who he knew because like said a couple things massacred a whole army ( sent to protect them ) literally realizing this is an awful character then he gets brainwashed at the end of the show once again turning on everyone! I mean can we take a moment and think all the things these ppl went thru? And he just tried to f everyone over and over and over again spoiler warning ⚠️

I’ve always looked at it as a reflection on his daddy issues. He didn’t have a father growing up and had to take on immense parental responsibility for keeping Octavia alive and in hiding when he was just a boy himself. His leadership was often him playing leader even though he’s scared and doesn’t know what he’s doing. So every time an authoritative dad figure pops up he’s a “good little lap dog” and completely betrays everything else just to get to feel important to a father figure while also being able to let someone else take the lead.

I can actually understand his character turn at the very end, when he saw things he honestly believed were miraculous, way more than I understood his Stupid Evil alignment shift under Pike which was dumb as all hell. He went through some rough patches but deserved a better ending than he got, imo anyway. I say this as someone who loathed him in S1.

I think the show did a horrible job showing us Bellamy getting pushed to that extreme. On one hand I get it, i see what they were trying to do, but they failed. What they tried to do was make Bellamy be blinded by his hatred for the grounders because of well all of season 1, the betrayal at month weather, and his girlfriend dying being the final push. But we don't know the girlfriend, we don't give a shit about the girlfriend, I'm not sure I even remember her name. You can't think the watchers will understand that a character cared that much about a character that doesn't exist to the watchers. If it had been Clarke, not saying they should have killed Clarke, people would understand Bellamy's blind anger, at least a bit more. Plus I can believe that season 1 Bellamy hates the grounders enough to kill those 300 hundred people, but after season 2, he doesn't hate them that much anymore. He understood that they were just as human as the rest of them, or he should have anymore. Especially with his friendship with Lincoln that they like make sure we know about at the start of season 3. Then he makes sure Pike spares Indra, and it kinda makes it worse. Like really!? You understand that he would never kill Indra, he'd never do that to Octavia, yet you make him kill all the other grounders that easily, what the actual fuck were they thinking. And then he's fine again in season 4, so I don't get how they messed up his arc so bad in season 3. All they had to do was make the character that died someone the watchers knew at least a little about, so we gave a shit, made him question Pike a little bit and actual show us how Pike was getting to him, and make him not participate in the massacre of the army, better yet make it not happen at all it's the dumbass plot point in the whole ass show
Guess I had to rant too lol

And Monty also sides with Pike but it's not ridiculously badly done like with Bellamy so they had the ability to do it not stupid, like just make Bellamy question this 20% more and give like half as much screen time to Monty thanks

Monty sided more with him mom than Pike but it still took Monty too long to stand up which seemed so unlike him. It was stupid that he couldn't understand why Miller and Harper wouldn't trust him. And then his own mom turned him in. Monty's mom was horrible.

I never hated a character more than I hate him honestly

Yeah. I kept hoping they would kill him off. I don't get why so many people are doting on him.

I don’t agree with this at all. I felt like Bellamy was a great character. He made one bad decision in siding with Pike, but only did so after Echo betrayed him, someone he helped save and tried to believe grounders could be “good”. Then they murder his g/f, like come on lol. Clarke couldn’t stop murdering people constantly just for breathing.
And then his late show character was perfect because he actually tried to make amends for the past and realized all the killing and “us vs. them” over and over again literally amounted to nothing. Nothing! It was all just meaningless killing and violence. And his death by the serial killer Clarke epitomized that.

don't think you made the spoiler right lmfao.
I mean, I think it actually makes sense, and that's coming from somebody that borderline hates his character for a large chunk of the series.
He didn't just turn on everyone, he turned on everyone after watching what he believed to be the grounders continuously breaking promises and attacking them, leading to a deep-rooted mistrust in them altogether.
He didn't have a father growing up, and Pike was the perfect person for him to latch onto during what is an extremely vulnerable point in time.
Try to think of the ending as if it was in a bubble. Bellamy spent a very very long time over there just barely surviving. He was already damaged heavily up to this point and found comfort in the only place he could. Some characters did not experience the same time dilation that some of them did towards the ending.
Throughout the series he is pushed and pulled in weird directions, he was never really a leader, he more acted like a leader because he was scared and didn't think anybody else would/could, so it was easy for him to take the big dumb brute route and just 'do what is necessary'
He saw throughout a long period of time, that being nice was only ever met with being taken advantage of. When he finally came across something that wasn't just a game of push/pull, he didn't have to take the burden of 'leading' a society and could just settle because he knew he was safe. It would have been insane for him after ALL that happened, to randomly switch and go "yeah I was wrong here's the book" before getting shot.

I always seen Bellamy as a vulnerable person easy to be taken advantage of. He grew up with no father figure I assume any older man he came across he saw them as a father figure to him.

Also for the book readers! Did you find the books as horrible as I did ? I think it was the first time the books where worse than the show in my experience

I agree with you except for the last bit because at this point he had been witness to truly inexplainable events and what seemed to be miracles confirming the second dawn's religion. And in the end he was kindda right.
But for everything else, yeah he's one of the most gullible and easily manipulated guy in the show, he constantly makes wrong decisions and regret them afterward.

lol just wait 😂 the way they wrote his character for the last 3 seasons was a travesty

No one on that show that made it to season 7 would have if Bellamy hadn't saved their asses ten times over.

I understand him "turning against" everyone at the end because that not technically what he was doing. He was saving the human race and it turned out he was right about it. But I 1000% agree that he was a total for following pike!

Well actually the Transcendence thing was true so it wasn't bad that he believed it and he wanted his friends to believe it to be true too. Other than that yeah he was gullible. Still one of my favorite characters tho.

Did you spoiler the spoiler warning? Lol. But I agree. Through the first few seasons Bellamy is the absolute most gullible person in the show. Hell even in the final season hes still the most gullible. I dont think there was a single moment where he didnt think for himself and just let everyone else do the thinking for him
