The Black Island

Hi everyone

I have recently been thinking about selling my childhood book set, but I cannot figure out how much to sell it for as it seems to be pretty rare?
It’s got the soviets and Congo as the first volume, rather than the tintin in America, blue lotus etc.

The set has mild sun fade on the spines of the books, and the box is damaged at the edges, but other than that it’s in near perfect condition.

If anyone could point me in the right direction, it’d be greatly appreciated!

I think he became less savage later on, but I really love this no holds barred, unhinged version of tintin that loved to get in fights. In the later comics he's never like this but early on he seemed extremely willing to brawl.

Bonjour, j'ai une collection complète des 13 Rombaldi. Superbe collection intégrale complète. Je cherche une personne intéressante pour les achats ou troquer, de préférence un collectionneur (étant peu user)

The Black Island

When Hergé died in 1983, one of the tributes I saw was a heartbreaking illustration of Snowy/Milou looking up from a doorway with great sad eyes and a folded newspaper in his mouth, the headline in big black letters beginning HERGÉ EST.

It was absolutely devastating and I've never seen it again; it must have belonged to my Tintin-obsessed buddy from those days (Hi G!), because I'm a pack rat and do not have it.

Anyone?

I’m talking about signed albums/artwork, original colour or black and white albums, rare album collectibles, etc.

And how did you grade the authenticity?

I thank you for all the comments, suggestions and encouragement. This project really helped me reconnect with art after months of burnout. I sincerely thank all of you.

The Black Island

I read and reread the Tintin books many times over as a kid in the early to mid 2010's and only found the TV series pretty recently. So what was it like watching it back in the 90's? Do you have any particular memories associated with the series? Keen to hear! :)

Never ask a woman her age, a man his salary and Tintin what he was doing in the Congo.

Calculus thought Peggy was graceful and exhibited exquisite femininity. I agree.

In my mind it's always been Muller first due to his outright aggression and willingness to brawl and fight with Tintin, which he has done many times, both in The Black Island and Land of Black Gold. Muller seems much more willing to seriously hurt Tintin and there is a scene in Land of Black Gold when he knocks Tintin out with a stick as soon as he sees him. Rastopopulous is extremely evil too, of course, but his evil lies more in his drug smuggling empire and less in his direct encounters with Tintin, which are sometimes friendly, such as when he gives Tintin horses and supplies in Cigars of the Pharoah, and lets him come over to his house in The Blue Lotus. I think it's a close draw, but in my personal (and probably pretty unpopular) opinion, Muller takes the win for the arch enemy.

You will never guess the references....
