Yes they are technically no longer "certified" organic, however the only things that have truly changed in the 1964 growing is the growth facility and the removal of the organic certification. Rubicon moved the production of 1964 products (including Comatose) to a dedicated, indoor facility in Hope, BC (the Cascadia facility). A facility that gets no natural sunlight for the plants. The Fraser Valley Organic Producers Association (FVOPA) requires that crops receive at least 30% natural sunlight to qualify for organic certification. Because the new facility is fully indoor without that natural sunlight, it no longer qualifies for the FVOPA certification, however the company stated that while they lost the official certification due to the building's infrastructure, they still follow the same organic growing principles for their 1964 product line and use the same living soil style, and still do not use irradiation. Still the same growing techniques, only thing that changed is the amount of sunlight the plants get which caused them to lose the fvopa certification for organic cannabis on their 1964 products. Still the same flavor, still the same burn, still the same long lasting effects and smooth smoke. That "downhill" feeling is all in your head, and guaranteed caused by the illusion that their "no longer organic". They're no longer certified organic, that doesn't mean they don't use the same organic growing practices. Hope this helps.

interesting. Thanks for the long write up, had no idea sunlight had a play. I still would think that although they aren't certified FVOPA, can't they still call it organic comatose if it's actually grown LSO? just not FVOPA certified? I believe other brands have done this.

Legally they aren't supposed to but some brands seem to do it anyways. I had no idea either until a little bit after they first removed the certified organic label and I did a little bit of digging, I was gonna stop smoking the 1964 products all together had they changed their grow method 😅 This batch of comatose has a major old school kush smell and flavor as well as a super clean burn 🔥 might just be because its been awhile since ive smoked the comatose and few have been able to compare to it for me, but I honestly feel this is one of the better batches ive gotten of it, definitely something im gonna try and stock up on while its still in town and available.

Also gotta add that I normally have really bad insomnia, im usually up until 4 or 5 in the morning and only getting about 3-4 hours of sleep, sometimes less. This batch has had me passed out before 1:30 am literally every night ive been smoking on it 😅.

They could call it LSO Comatose, because as explained in that very well written answer, it isn’t certified organic. What other brands have done it?

Wait, Rubicon isn’t organic anymore?

As far as I know Rubicon still produces organic flower with majority of it remaining in the simply bare brand. 1964 hasn't been organic for at least a year now, could be longer, hence why its not called "organic comatose" and the fvopa certification from the back of the bag was removed

Oh wow I didn’t realize that, thank you for the info!

they can't guarantee that it will be organic, they grow the coma in both facilities now.

That was years ago. The strain hasn't been the same ever since though. Even after the brought it back. They know it too but can't do much about it

losing a mom is so rare these days, most important genetics are stored in tissue culture.

Could you smell anything when you opened the bag? Mine was pretty muted tbh

This stuff has always been mid. Never understood the hype

Some of the batches from before definitely were more in the mid quality range for sure, I think they started trying to rush the growth process on it while it was being so hyped up before which caused the lower quality batches near the end. Definitely have to say this is the best batch ive gotten of it so far, for me its the body high and flavor it produces, I haven't been able to find many strains that produce the same flavor profile and body high as the comatose.

I can’t lie the buds look much better than whenever I’ve bought the comatose. Still, I stick to apples and bananas from 1964, haven’t been disappointed yet.

The apples and bananas has been extremely good as well! Definitely in my top 5.
