other Invertebrate owners?

Hi, I hope you are all doing well! I am considering getting a jumping spider for myself as pet. I was wondering if there any owners of this spiders here in The Hague (kan ook in nederlands).
I also will need petsitting during Christmas since I am not sure if I can being her/him to Spain when I go on holidays.

So basically I wanna make friends that own jumping spiders and/or find anyone who would like to take care of one when I am not here (if I end up not being able to travel with it)

Thank you all, have a good day!

Honestly jumping spiders don't need daily care so if you are only away for a 4-5 days you can just mist their enclosure generously to keep things humid and feed them a big meal like a mealworm before you leave (never leave any uneaten worms in the enclosure though). Or if you feed fruit flies add a lot of them to the enclosure and the spider will hunt whenever it's hungry. The way I think about it, out in nature a spider doesn't always eat daily and humidity fluctuates depending on the weather.

If you leave for longer just figure out which of your friends is the most chill about spiders and ask them to come by every few days for basic care.

I wouldn't recommend traveling with a spider, you would be putting it under a lot of unnecessary stress.

I was actually surprised when I got my spider about how many people were positive about it and were happy for me to show them a bunch of pics of my little guys. I think social media has done a lot of good introducing people to jumping spiders in particular and showing that they are actually cute and harmless.

Traveling with a spider on the plane is close to impossible due to their rules. But even if you could, you'd need to have proper housing set up for the little critter at your destination because you can't just keep them in a Tupperware during your vacation. They need heat and humidity and the correct biome elements.

Best just leave the little gal/guy at home if you need to travel. You can select a variety of jumping spider that doesn't need frequent feedings, and set up an automated humidifier on a timer in your enclosure. Then, you can leave some live bugs in the enclosure for your spider to hunt over time (make sure that these bugs are of species that can't "fight back" unless you want to come home to a pet feeder bug and a dead spider).

I don't know if you'll find someone on reddit who you could trust to come to your home and feed your spider, but that way you'll significantly reduce the amount of visits required during your absence.

That’s great advice thanks a lot! ♥️✨
I would really like to be a jumping spider mom but I don’t wanna make them suffer either.
I will research through my friends to see who would be up for feeding some bugs to a spider or just check how it is doing, hopefully it will be fine😅🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻

Based on the fact that you're thinking about all these things and doing your research ahead of time, I'm sure you'll become a great jumping spider parent! I wish you all the best 🐛
