Outside of a Shane Doan level type hire, I worry about saving this program. The school, and sports admin dept made the wrong move at almost every level until it was too late. Super bummed in that's it's Rossini's first blunder (imo) and now he has to dig his way out. The program had so much good will hype

The program will be fine regardless. Itâs an absolute destination place to play in the best conference in all of college hockey.

Look I want him fired too but this feels like a reach. Not like he had a burner or something and his texts are gone. Fire him for cause because he hired some dumbass to run a workout without approval. Shoulda happened over a month ago.

Shit reporting. First of all what the attorney who is suing the school claims, may or may not be fact. 2nd the article says "Mayich, who transferred to ASU over the offseason and was not properly acclimatized to the Arizona weather" according to who? It was 80 degrees out and he had been here for 2 weeks, this was his third workout and it was an hour long. After 2 weeks and 3 workouts you can't be outside for an hour in 80 degrees? ASU screwed up plenty, and it's not looking great for Powers but there's no need to start throwing out random statements as facts just to have your news story.

According to ASUâs own internal investigation proper acclimatization protocols werenât followed.

I've read through ASU's reports and it's unfortunate to see how many steps were skipped but I did not come away from that report with the understanding that new players were not yet acclimated to the point of being eligible for a 60 minute 80 degree practice. I did see steps skipped for vetting the consultant, submitting the plan, having the cold tub and then the tragic video clearly shows no one was paying attention to player's status. But what climatizing steps were skipped?

The practices they had previously were indoor except one short one outdoor.

Correct. Indoor. Short outdoor. Longer outdoor. That's the acclimation process. What acclimation steps were skipped?

Itâs a media feeding frenzy with stories like the Clancey trial and the Cornell 7. Wild, unsubstantiated, and misleading headlines gets clicks and outrage.
ASU was initially told Mayich would recover. When he didnât wake up after sedation was withdrawn, the family stopped sending medical updates and have let one of the scummiest personal injury lawyers in the Valley (Rob Carey) do all the talking. ASU has multiple major legal prohibitions against disclosing whatever they do know about a studentâs health, but trash journalists report every accusation made by an ambulance-chasing lawyer as fact.

Either way the ball bounces itâs not a good look and this is why ASU hockey was never an idea that would work long term.
