News Jennie made a special appearance to perform One Of The Girls with Abel tonight in Seoul

u/IndependentIcy4743 9d ago
She is a really weak singer. Especially next to The Weeknd, like you can hear her strugglingā¦
141
u/ActiveToe7011 9d ago
as much as they look good performing together, abel is just on a different level with his voice and pitch control
55
u/nahbrolikewhat 9d ago
exactly I think whoever performs with Abel is bound to sound "worse" because he's js that good
57
u/Ok-Perspective7794 9d ago
Eh Ariana doesnāt have this issue. Jennie just isnt a good singer in general so singing next to someone who can sing is jarring.
18
u/l0st1nthew0rld 8d ago
Yeah he and Ariana match each other's voices perfectly, and their chemistry is insane when they sing love me harder or save your tears live. This comes across a bit stiff and awkward and i don't think it's cos of Abel
6
u/undercover-dad I wanna fuck you slow with the lights on 9d ago
The other girl from FALSE IDOLS can sing amazing too!!
-5
u/TelephoneClear886 7d ago
But why dont we share the fun Abel is having so clearly in this performance? He asked her, not Ariana. He also liked performing with Anitta, who also didnt do anything more than showing her body. Come on, enjoy the show!
3
u/Ok-Perspective7794 7d ago
I mean that has nothing to do with what I said. You can enjoy the performance, but people can also acknowledge if the singing is bad. And in this case, it is.
40
u/nahbrolikewhat 9d ago
unfortunately this is true...
27
u/TelephoneClear886 9d ago edited 9d ago
Maybe but why should we always focus on the negative. She is a fantastic person and it is clear how much Abel loves to perform with her. Special chemistry. They are making theater, not recording a song.
8
u/Common-Peanut-3586 7d ago
āShes a fantastic personā really? Is she like known for helping Palestinian children in the genocide or something? Or do you mean fantastic in a parasocial way like shes your āidolā or something
-1
u/TelephoneClear886 7d ago
Fantastic how she tries to perform with Abel, together making a show for us. I dont know her, for sure. I just admire the spirit and courage to be on the stage with Abel. Knowing that there are always people who need to complain. Society: they try to kill you, by a thousand papercuts....
4
8
u/jOnTiGaS_ After Hours 9d ago
Yeah I appreciate the fact that she sang with no live autotune. It sounds more personal and real to me
1
u/babadussy 8d ago
Hate to break it to you but if you're talking about this performance, there is some 'snap to grid' style pitch correction happening
0
u/Any_Lake_6146 7d ago
Definitely pitch correction but itās still not enough. But people can like her for being cute, her aesthetic and cool attitude because it canāt be for a vocal talent
53
u/stoicable 9d ago
Nobody in Blackpink can sing LMAO
19
13
u/idiotkoifysh 9d ago
literally.. jennie hardly performs too. she can hit about one weak dance move per song and then she gives up
10
u/TAnoobyturker 9d ago
Cut her some slack.Ā
She had a paper cut 15 years ago which she's still recovering from

u/Goldmoo2 9d ago
Meh. I think Rose can sing really well and Lisa is a fantastic performer. Jennie has always been the weakest live.
2
u/neoncolour 8d ago
Any Lisa performance youād recommend? I keep hearing sheās a good performer but every time I saw her on tv, whether at the VMAs or the Oscarās she was mid at best and canāt even be bothered to pretend to sing live. Even Tate McRae delivered stronger and more compelling performances with exceptional choreography, dancing and live vocals.
3
5
u/lopsided-pancake 9d ago
Rose is actually a good singer! Unfortunately YG forced her to train her vocals poorly, if you watch videos of her trainee days she was much better. She sung Tori Kelly really well!
3
u/Any_Lake_6146 7d ago
Tori? The Tori??? One of the best vocalist out there? Letās be serious šš.
6
u/bro-Here-to-share 9d ago
Hey, no no no no. No negativity! It's a submissive song that's meant to be sung softly, Abel just belts naturally. His voice may be better but Jennie did well in her role. Bless you!
3
u/Sincerebutnotafool 8d ago
No, she didn't. Sorry but that's the truth. For someone with her years of experience, she should be better than this. She has the tools and means to improve but she hasn't put any effort.

u/strawberrrychapstick 9d ago
Even so I think it's cool that Abel lifts up the artists that he collabs with. It's really sweet when he does the bow to them and he clearly respects them enough to bring them on for little features during tour. I mean also he toured with Carti for a long time and he didn't get nearly this level of hate when he definitely should have, his performance was cheeks. Jennie did very very well in comparison.
8
u/IndependentIcy4743 9d ago
True Carti deserves more hate fr
-4
u/Best_Alternative_617 8d ago
Yall have to be racists cause all he got in 2025 was hate for performing with The Weeknd
3
u/IndependentIcy4743 8d ago
We have to be racists for not liking Carti who is literally a domestic abuser? Iām not online like that so I didnāt even know he got hate. Iām not even hating on this performance Iām just saying sheās a weak singer comparably to Abel.
-3
u/Best_Alternative_617 8d ago
Do you not like him because heās an abuser or because heās performance is ass??? If youāre judging him not only based on his performance but also for his personal shit then itās disingenuous. NOBODY has gotten more hate for artists Abel has brought on than Carti and itās a fact
2
-4
u/Best_Alternative_617 8d ago
And for yall to say Jennie is getting so much hate when SHE LITWRALLT ISNT SINGING PROPERLY is crazy
2
7
5
u/l0st1nthew0rld 8d ago
Yeah i thought the same thing before reading the comments! Is it not being close enough to the mic cos her voice sounds very weak. Still a cool surprise for the show!!

How can a Kpop A-lister whoās been training and singing for like 20 years be so bad at singing.. none of Blackpink can sing
72
u/heartlessloft drink it till i'm ugly baby, fuck me while i'm faded 9d ago
They are trained to appeal to international audiences and markets. As long as she can dance really well, be prepared for the job, speak English, hold a note, be extremely conventionally attractive to Western and Asian standards I donāt think live vocals are that high their priorities.
10
24
u/transientself 9d ago
I get it I really do.. but youād think 20 years of dedicated training and lessons would make you sound decent.. even my grandma sounds better and sheās throat cancer
8
u/Goldmoo2 9d ago
Jennie has always been the worst out of the group live. Rose can sing really well and Lisa is an amazing performer. Even within the Kpop community- Jennie constantly gets flamed by their own fans for her live performances.
7
u/Case_Study-3079 9d ago
Lisa is an 'amazing performer' for BP group standards.
7
u/Goldmoo2 9d ago
Nah just in general. She's got way more of a stage presence than a majority of the industry tbh.
3
u/HumbleTax2989 8d ago
you are kidding. You have never seen other much better kpop groups. Lisa is the mid one in the industry.
4
u/Goldmoo2 8d ago
Oh I love kpop don't worry about that. But yeah she's not the best singer but her stage presence is top tier- definitely one of the best in the industry. She's at the top for a reason.
4
u/HumbleTax2989 8d ago
She's at the top because she get support from her zionist boyfriend and mediaplay honey. We are not blind. Only her fans like you think she is great.
4
u/neoncolour 8d ago
True, all her VMA performances were bad. Even the dancing is unimpressive. We have mediocre singers with good dancing skills like Tate McRae performing circles around her. This whole āfantastic performerā feels like just propaganda.

u/Fair_Depth2827 8d ago
This again, she broke up with that guy like a year ago, she's dating a b-list thai actor right now. Ya'll love to take every chance you get to go rampant on your misogyny. Acting as if she wasn't one of the most successful kpop idols out there before she was dating that guy.
0
u/Noconceptjustbored 6d ago
You are blackpink snarker so ofcourse you gonna hate on them but truth is Lisa has great stage presence and very charming performer and vocal has improved within the last two years and most importantly she sings live with dancing. So many western artist like tate and selena gomez lipsync and I have noticed that even this new girl Adela was lipsync singing but no one baits an eye and glorifies them because they are white. So stop bring racist.
9
u/Professional_Tie9003 8d ago
Jennie can't sing, rap or dance to save her life tho, girl is literally the biggest industry plant out there
1
u/boss14420 5d ago
She can't dance very well and definitely isn't conventionally attractive to Asian standard (idk that much about Western standard).
1
u/KarmicCT 6d ago
you know why...
1
u/transientself 6d ago
Not really
3
u/KarmicCT 6d ago
agencies prioritize the 'look' first rather than any singing talent they can develop.
1
u/-ForgottenSoul 3d ago
She was trained to be a rapper less so singer but shes had better singing performances thats for sure.
13
u/HumbleTax2989 8d ago
is that girl the one they hype so much in korea? What a horrible vocal. Damn their standards is low low low
6
u/Professional_Tie9003 8d ago
Only her delusional fans hype her, she's been the poster child of below averageĀ
4
u/Berryberri99 8d ago
There some blinks that get on her ALL the time he'll the whole group gets strays except for Lisa (cuz she's an actual dancer)Ā
5
u/Professional_Tie9003 8d ago
Lisa can dance but she's beyond mid as well, she can't compete with other main dancers, not to mention like the other BP members, she's also an industry plant who can't sing, or give a good performanceĀ
1
u/playnasc 6d ago
What? Lisa has received a lot of flack over her live performances this year too. Rosie's new song ain't that good either. The whole group is in shambles.
2
u/Professional_Tie9003 6d ago
The group's been in shambles, they've got what, less than 40 songs in over a decade and they don't even write, or produce. Istg their label YG made their entire careers by riding BTS's coattails and promoting them as female BTSĀ
1
u/Berryberri99 5d ago
I don't keep up with kpop š¤·šæāāļø that's unfortunate how they really downgraded. When they started getting Solo's (when I was an active fan) I was like "oh this is the end for this group" ššš)Ā

u/godeeep 9d ago
Wow her voice is not very good.
19
u/idiotkoifysh 9d ago
sheās really not that good in general. thereās tons of compilations of her being a lazy performer online
3
u/Vincent_varentine 9d ago
She is ok live nothing crazy the only thing carrying her is her good discography she has without the doubt one of the best kpop discography
6
u/Firm_Mulberry6319 8d ago
The writers, producers, and whoever sheās collabing with is the one carrying her discography. Her solo songs arenāt that good and her songs who she features someone are better.
0
u/Vincent_varentine 8d ago
Seoul city, start a war, extra L, mantra, handlebars, love hangover all bangers why are we lying now? What do you possibly achieve by saying bs?
5
u/Firm_Mulberry6319 8d ago
Handlebars, Extra L, and Love Hangover has a feature or a collab in it. Thatās already 50% of the songs you listed, you already proved my point.
1
u/Professional_Tie9003 8d ago
Oh hell nah, her discography is so mid, and girl can't sing or dance to save her life. She's got a good team and mediaplayĀ
1
u/Vincent_varentine 8d ago
Seoul city, start a war, extra L, mantra, handlebars, love hangover all bangers. Stop bs ting and listen then come back here
4
u/Professional_Tie9003 7d ago
Again mid, most are copy pasting other songs, also the way she's entirely carried by the collabs and the production, and the absurd amount of autotune on her voice is horrendous. Girl really can't hold a tune
28
u/TelephoneClear886 9d ago
They really enjoy performing together. I love this spirit. Go girl, gošŖ

u/Hefty_Loss5180 š¦āāļø 9d ago

u/Vincent_varentine 9d ago
She does it's nothing crazy tho she's ok, she never been a crazy vocalist or known to be, she has alot of fans because she makes good music
8
u/Least-Outcome-9344 9d ago
She doesn't make good music, she literally paid song writers tons of money to make music, ,pretending that she made it
-1
u/Vincent_varentine 8d ago
She never pretended, she always gave credit to her writer bibi and her friend zico, and she writes as well and involved in the making of the music, most artists have writers and producers and that doesn't make the artist bad, she has her own label and makes the music under her own company she has control over most of the album sounds and etc
-1
u/Vincent_varentine 8d ago
How is that have anything to do with the her music sounding good or nah? Listen to her than comeback

youāve literally hit the nail on the head with everything. how can she even feel satisfied with herself for not even caring what she looks like dancing on stage or how she sounds singing. blackpink just needs to break up and fade into obscurity at this point
8
u/RevolutionaryHall964 9d ago
Does she sound the same in her solo concerts as well?? Iāve send videos where she sounds perfect and Iām beginning to think that she was lip syncing then

When that female singer joined, it sounded like she was really struggling to sing at karaoke - she kept skipping lines? - until the sound engineers stepped in to help match it Abel's vocals

This is what happens when mediocrity gets a standing ovation and integrity gets put on trial. What a sickening world we live in, where the shallow are celebrated, the shameless are rewarded, and authenticity is treated with suspicion. Weāve lowered the bar so far that having no substance is apparently a personality, having no principles is a survival strategy, and making a spectacle of yourself is mistaken for success. When mediocrity becomes the standard, excellence looks intimidating, integrity looks inconvenient, and authenticity becomes a threat. Weāre not suffering from a shortage of people to admire. Weāre suffering from a catastrophic collapse in what we choose to admire. And honestly, thatās the most disgusting part of it all.
1
u/Iulia_27788 5d ago
this sounds shakespearean but is true though. she wouldnt even be hired to sing in a bar, its all about the money that the label puts in you
1
u/bigbullsh 5d ago
My criticism isnāt of individual artists, but of an industry that markets mediocrity as genius and sells it to young people as something to aspire to. It distorts their standards, encourages imitation over individuality, and traps artists in manufactured identities. We should celebrate genuine talent and originality, not corporate products packaged as icons. The real cost is a generation taught to worship the image rather than recognise the Thatās all.
0
u/Necessary_Job3578 5d ago
What AI did you use to write this bro
0
u/bigbullsh 5d ago
Ever wonder why addressing the argument feels harder than questioning the person making it? When you have no argument against the point, I suppose questioning how it was written is your next best option. Try again.
-1
u/SrirachaJulio 6d ago
The fuck are you talking about? Lmao
1
0
u/bigbullsh 5d ago
Iām not interested in making this personal. My point is about mediocrity being marketed as genius and an entire generation being conditioned to mistake manufactured hype for genuine artistic excellence. If that makes you uncomfortable, perhaps youāre closer to the phenomenon Iām criticising than you realise my friend.
3
u/Responsible_Ice_8026 7d ago
this one of her very few live performances where she is not skipping lines or just shouting/lipsynving.
every one that attends a concert deserves an authentic performance like the one abel is giving but clearly jennie can not match that ever
3
4
u/Longjumping_Car7948 8d ago
Her fans know sheās not a strong performer, she knows shes not a strong performer so she just does her best n have fun. They just like her as an overall person and her songs are really good. Her flaws make her relatable..? and seeing how she challenge herself with aā¦Fck it attitude š makes her brave

Does anyone feel like The Weeknd pissed Ariana Grande off and instead of her being a surprise guest itās Jennie now?? Ariana literally wrote a song called Freak (another song from The Weekndās show) about this and then the Warning Signs transition is clearly The Weeknd coded⦠they had overlapping tour dates in London and neither of them acknowledged each other the way they usually do
11
u/le_borrower_arrietty How Do I Make You Love Me? 9d ago
I wouldn't be surprised if they had some sort of scuffle but can we please be serious about the lyrics. It makes no sense for pop stars of their age and level of fame to be subtly communicating and sneak dissing each other through songs.Ā Also, Abel is not the first nor the last to have a song titled Freak. Lana Del Rey and Doja Cat are two other Abel collaborators with songs named that.
4
u/mazipan123 9d ago
I know but the lyrics of warning signs which is right after freak is very telling..
12
u/ruby-paz 9d ago
I donāt think Ariana wouldāve flown all the way to South Korea for a 5 minute performance.
4
u/mazipan123 9d ago
itās just interesting since they teased a new song together a few months before tour and then happened to overlap in London for 2 weeks
9
u/Sosa_ck 9d ago
True, but it was also probably complicated by Arianaās public āaffairsā right now. Didnāt she say she was stopping/taking a break from touring after her last London show? Either artist probably didnāt want to catch any additional and potentially unwanted exposure. Hoping itās this vs something personal. Time will tell.
7
u/l0st1nthew0rld 8d ago
I definitely think they had a thing going on (I'm a hills and gasoline truther lmao) and i think some of her songs are about him (and the old lady mv after dawn fm, lol come onnn), he's always been supportive like shouting her out for wicked pt 1, but nothing for 2 or her concerts. I definitely wonder what happened there

I started liking Jennie lately. She is on a great run most probably a grammy soon for dracula too. She has that lucky charm which end up making Collabs into superhits. Hope to see a new track with Jennie+ Abel

Broo grammy for a horrible singer like her? No way and dracula remix was a sh!t too

Well, not to be that person but she doesn't sound that good live, her technique is really bad and she is straining so much while singing. Needs vocal training so she doesn't have problems with her voice in the future š
