I have to be honest and say that Dario never really grew on me as a character . He was one of the weaker parts of the otherwise pretty great Immortal Hulk run. Itâs clear that Ewing has a thing for him, but I just donât get it.

He's this over the top parody of capitalism that is coming from a Disney property. It feels manipulative more than earnest.

He is kinda lame and comes of as a pushover.
An evil CEO doesn't make that much sense as a villain for heavy hitters like Thor or Hulk, when they normally fight cosmic or mythical threats.
His weird Minotaur amulett shouldn't allow him to seriously fight someone on that level. He would be better off fighting some midtier heroes, he can realistically bully with his strength.
He is also often shown to be more of an overconfident brawler than cunning making this even worse. (with the exception of when he made Thor a property to have him rewritten)
Then there was the entire global warming theme in the Jane Foster Thor run, when they had to come up with excuses as to why the weather deity doesn't just end global warming with a wave of the hammer.
Roxxon as an evil corporation is also weirdly antiquated and feels like something from the 80s/90s. They are big mashines doing evil stuff far away on the other side of the planet. Roxxon would be more interesting, if they tackled modern corporate marketing similar to Vought from the Boys, instead of being Captain Planet villains.

His magic origin kinda makes sense that he can hang with the big boys. Absorbing man was just a Loki curse or some shit

I'd argue, that more of a point on how Absorbing Man doesn't make too much sense either.
I mean not really. It's unclear, if he even is the real Minotaur and if he was it would still be some relatively low-tier monster, that was murdered by Theseus, not Hercules, and should be fodder compared to Thor.

u/dwadley Jun 11 '26
That is true. If Lokiâs able to on a whim give people that level of power without any cost he should be doing that more often.

He is the last of the real evil capitalist villains left. Most were relics left forgotten. Or in the case of Osborn made into a hero?

This Thor arc is the worst, it's so ridiculous and pathetic. I've never felt so ridiculed as a Thor fan. Even Jane Foster as Thor was fun to read, but this is just bs. Marvel thought, "hey we need something to keep Thor away from the biggest Thunder and Lightning event in Marvel history, Haddad/Storm, let's just ship Thor to some intern. Fucking ridiculous.

I just reread immortal to mortal this week and I'm super excited to see where this is going. Sorry you don't feel the same way

That makes no sense. For one, the Thunder War arc of Storm was a story arc for Storm only; it didnât bleed out for any other titles, and even if it did, Haddad clearly contradicted the Immortal Thor story and the larger Marvel cosmology, and third Thor was already dealing with the fallout of Utgard, and youâre championing sacrificing both stories' integrity for spectacle alone.

Don't you find it strange that in the biggest event which has an association with Elements like Thunder and Lightning, the biggest character has no tie in?

u/Quirky_Ad_5420 đWeaver of the Bifrostđ Jun 11 '26
Not really because it was the story arc for storm. Thor offer his aid for Storm to help in the prelude to it but Storm reject because as she said the thunder gods beef are because of her so itâs her responsibility. Secondly ,There was no way in hell Marvel gonna make thunder war into event to promote Storm they barely try to help promote the book as is and twice derailed the storm story to have it tie in it their terrible x-event already ruining the pace.

This story is great, ultimate example of Thor being worthy because of who he is, not that he had a giga-god body that was strong enough to tank Gorr-s entire God-bomb.
Power or no power Thor will battle and WIN against evil.

Great story, Guy taking a rope and connecting it to a sledge hammer and throwing it around, are you 12 years old?

u/JebusSandalz Jun 11 '26
Guy without superpowers or super soldier/spy training standing up to evil far stronger than himself and winning through effort and perseverance = great story, can your 11 yr old brain enjoy heroics without the protagonist being an OP flying superhuman with magic weaponry going colorful energy blasts left and right.

So you create a story about a guy with no superpowers and make him stand up to megapowered villains and demi-gods by swinging a hammer attached to a rope so he can get the hammer back by pulling the rope and use it also like in a Tarzan-ish way.
Fuck, bro, really? Where are you getting your dope?

At this point, Iâm reading it just to stay up to date on whatâs going to happen with Thor. I really wanted to like Ewingâs writing ever since Immortal Thor started, but honestly, it never really grew on me.
